Have never heard anything good about Rough Country lifts.

If affordable is what you have to work with, Bilstein 5100’s all around is usually recommended, plus 3-leaf Add-A-Leaf in the rear, and no more than a 3” lift.

If you have some more cash, the Old Man Emu set ups are solid, as is the Bilstein 6112/5160 combo from the reviews.

If you can wait and save up more, best would be to go for Kings, ADS, Icon, or Fox with leaf spring packs (Alcan, Deaver, or Dakars) and control arms (Total Chaos, Icon, Dirt King, BajaKits, or Camburg).

personally I would stay away from the bracket lifts, but to each its own.. I prefer function over height. Any of the kits stated above are proven, affordable, and easy to install

anything over 2 inches, you should do UCA's. I got 2 inches on mine with 5100's and 2887's. they work great for me.

also, I too have never heard anything good about RC stuff. But don't have any first-hand experience with them.

    What is your price point?

What do you mean by 2887s? I just ordered Bilstein 5100’s all around and am looking to get old man emu lift coils

2887 coils are OME coil springs. They are actually made for 4runners but can also be used on tacomas. I have the same setup on my 2013 tacoma prerunner. Bilstein 5100’s set on the lowest purch an got 3” but im sure they settled a bit over the years and its more like 2.5”.

Sweet, so I’ve got Bilstein ordered for front and rear, do I need 2887’s in the front and rear or just the front? Or are add a leafs for the rear? So confused with all of this lol

The bilsteins are adjustable up front have 3 or 4 different height settings, you can also pair them with different springs and use them on a lower height setting. The back will give you no additional lift, if you want to lift the rear you can add blocks, add a leaf, or just new rear leafs

Like everyone says if you’re going to lift the front higher than 2.5” it is highly recommended that you get aftermarket ucs’s. Since your already ordered 5100’s all around you can look into 886’s, 887’s, 888’s or eibach coils springs.

As for the rear’s just like Harri said blocks, aals or new leaf packs.

I have a set of 2” tapered blocks if your interested in going that route.

There is a massive amount of information on this subject, if you do a simple search for “3rd gen lift”

I got a RC lift set at a tad above 4 inches. It's solid. I don't do any heavy off reading though. If you do the 4 inch then you don't need UCAs cause they are staying almost exactly at the same angle as stock. If you do their 6 inch lift then consider UCAs.
If it's just for street use or shmall kine off road then RC will do the trick just fine. If you are planning on doing heavy off-roading thena drop bracket probably isn't the best choice but with a little reinforcing work it'll be strong enough.

The OME on the 3rd gen are a little different. For the 2887 coils, they lift 2 inches. I know on the 2nd gen it is 3 inches.

Hit me up in a DM and I might be able to help you more. Also, hit up Marie @HeadStrong Off-Road for help. I found them to be the best prices for shipping to Hawaii. They helped me a lot when lifting my 2016 Tacoma and my friends 4runner

Also recommend @HeadStrong Off-Road Just ordered 5100s with 887 and aal for the rear. I know you already have/ordered 5100...but headstrong will also give you an option to have them assembled, which makes install ALOT easier

This was for my dad's 2016 4x4 tacoma

What’s the difference in 887 and 888? Doesnt 888 help it sit higher?

Is there any advantage to that over the 887?

Depends on how deep you wanna go into it...now, at a certain point 4x4 will have faster wear to the cv boots with more height (some say 2-3 " is safe but anything more is pushing it). Another concern is that technically, no matter what spring you use 885/6/7/8, you are preloading that spring...yes they're designed for it, but when you compare them, the 888 will be stiffer that the 887 (they both have the same spring rate of 590). So if you want a plush ride, you want the spring that fits your setup, and that's why I'd go with @HeadStrong Off-Road recommendations.
