thats what I'm unsure of how to rebuild the crossmember. i figured it would be easier to just replace it with just another DB

So in other words you don't have the original crossmember?

If you were in Tucson I'd offer to swap lifts with you. I wish I had a 6. I just have the 2.5 Bilstein 5100 lift.....

You could always drop down to a RCD 4" lift. It has a drop bracket.

thats kinda what i was looking for. something to just basically swap it out an sell the 6" easier than trying to rebuild the crossmember

Or be happy with what you've got.

I can't imagine going to the trouble of swapping out a 6" drop bracket lift in order to install a 4" drop bracket lift...

    Yes
It's really pretty simple you just remove the current DB set up and weld a boxed steel piece back in there. $40 in steel tubing and done. ?..and the ironic thing is that the new piece of steel you weld in will be stronger than the OE crossmember. The only thing that needs to be fab'd is the diff mount tab. You can not install any other brand of DB lift after a Fabtech so the 4" RCD idea will not work because Fabtech cuts out the entire rear crossmember whereas all of the other brands only cut out a 6" chunk where the front drive shaft passes through and still use the rear crossmember to mount too.

There is nothing wrong with a drop bracket lift and if you like the looks of a 6" lift keep it and tell everyone else to STFU, all the DB hate is just ridiculous and most of the people saying bad things don't know their head from their ass and are just regurgitating BS they read on this stupid forum.

So I only had the few pics from my build thread of my custom cross member, and they were hidden by the skids. I dropped all of them this weekend to do a once over from the moab trip and change gear oil.

These pics should help you out. The triangle gussets and weld nuts were how we mounted my skids since the stock member is utilized by all oft the IFS skid fabricators. 872af66f14b23bbedc53c1e0c1911f2f_4492940e30235b8ea3b068e0f9e12b83af8ffbf5.jpg794459d21a9efa7339f58a7911dd0be6_29be7d87af829bdd60ecb719ca17e62b10c58cd0.jpg1ad7613fe83c9e2866bd4fcaad8aa030_379a32e612a3219e2b8af142ad7cafb3253e34e4.jpg5164a466fe66ff2d3175b54ee079dc82_62fc9b729dc77c86da4dc1ab175e4ab4e1a1e967.jpg

Aaron thanks so much for the pictures! deff helps me understand what I'm getting myself into.

how hard is it to completely remove the lift? I've really been looking at it a lot the last few days and it seems to be a lot of things to be removed.
