What do I look for them under ??? you know how the 4 cylinders that we used to use for class 10 were the 4A-GE engines I think... I may be wrong.

LS FTW!!!! Check out s14.net they are friendly on their and there are a couple guys with ls swaps... They even have kits you can buy... If you plan on doing this though... be prepared to spend alot of money because the engine bay is small and alot of custom work will go into it... GOOD LUCK! POST PICS! :)

I don't know about that. Just that I've heard great things about supra engines.

To answer your original question about what years to look for in the 4.0L: I would say any of the years they have made it (03-06 Tundra, 05-current Tacoma, 07-current Tundra) for the Single VVT-I for the Dual VVT-I I would also say any of those years (07-current FJ Cruiser, Newer style of 4-Runner). I hope this helps.

yes i had posted the car when I was asking how much it is worth... I have offers up to $7,000 so far but not wanting to sell it. The LS sounds good but I have had some Vette's and just had bad luck with Chevy's in the past. I know the new ones are way better but I had a lemon 1994 LT-1... it was a pc of crap. Heck I had a 1989 ford GT 5 speed that handled better and it.

They are pretty cool in the s14.net forums until you get the hard core guys that get mad when you talk about putting anything else that is not a original engine...:D But hey it is salvaged and I already made up my mind to tear it up...

Thanks for all the replies... I will post pics of what we end up doing... The project will start next month.

Ok, see I was looking at the V6's that came in the 1999 Tacoma. I think it's the 3.4 / 3.9 ??? I rode in one with a supercharger and I liked it. It was on a 4X4 in the dunes and it ran really nice.

And can you get the TRD supercharger for the 4.0 ??? I basically already have a good deal on the 3.4 but I can look around. I was told that the difference in weight from the stock engine and the 3.4 would be about 75 pounds but I am not sure.

I saw your post on TTORA, they are more of hardcore wheelers. This is a more all around type of forum. Don't get me wrong they are some very knowledgeable people over there, but this site does have ober 52K members.

Nothing wrong with a custom engine swap, but just wondering.... Why don't you just swap an older BMW s50 or m50 motor into your e30? My roommate literally bought an e30 week ago and is planning to do a swap this summer. It's very common, and somewhat easy to do with older/stock parts.

    Thanks...

Yes going the s50 / s52 can be easier since they do so many of them. My thing is that when any of those engines break down I will be looking at expensive repairs. I have friends who work on most engines except BMW. I can get a BMW m3 engine out of a 1998 M# and I believe it even has the VANOS system already... I may be wrong I have done a lot of research but it was a few years ago and then just parked the car. Now I am going back and seeing all the info again.
