Hello everybody just picked up a new to me 19 Tacoma DCSB Sport just over a week ago with 16000 miles. Absolutely love the truck so far!

However while driving home last night I noticed something clanking around in the steering wheel. Popped the little side cover off today and found a screw laying in the bottom of the cowl. Its not the screw that secures the air bag as its not a torx from what I've read online. I think it could be what holds the cowl to the wheel. Anybody have advice or know of a right up to pull that back panel apart so I can get it reinstalled.

    Thanks,
    Andrew

You should pop the airbag off and attach that screw back on as it's likely it's for your audio buttons or your cruise control joystick in place.

    Welcome!

Yeah. The airbag is pretty easy to deal with. I would highly recommend disconnecting the battery if you get in there.

    Here's a guide:

Well took it apart this afternoon and found the missing screw to go in the left hand control tried to put it back in and seems to be no threads to grab. Pulled the control apart and looks like it's been messed with in the past or a poor original assembly. Toyota warranty cover this kind of thing?

For a used vehicle? Probably not.

    Still under manufacturer warranty, regardless.
