This is funny...innocent until proven guilty in what? A court of law. Are you innocent Freid? Not in a court of law, but in your own mind.

If you're not, pay the fines, accept the consequences.

If you are, fight the ticket, and let the court decide as to your innocence or guilt.

Move to Canada. Every state is different with the traffic laws, but your better off just showing up to court then just paying the tickets and if you can get a lawyer its even better. It will not get you out of the tickets but it does help. In the mean time I would start slowing down a little bit.

I cant ride the bus. The only bus is from the parking lot to the university. (where I go) The buys stop is nearly 2 miles away. Do not tell me to walk or ride a bike either... I had acl repair a month ago. So that is out of the question. I was in a rush because my phone had died and alarm did not go off and had a huge project due in class.

The points are not supposed to last a life time... They get renewed if you go 2 years without a ticket.

If he chooses to fight, he doesn't have to prove shit, they have to prove he is guilty. He said it wasn't a double yellow line (lying or not, I don't know), but if it wasn't then they have to prove it. YES, in a court of law, that is how it works. Not advocating what he did, quite the opposite, but it is NOT up to him to prove he is innocent, he is already innocent until proven guilty.

PFF, lots of semi perfect people that can't remember what it is to be young. The advice you are giving is good but you are saying it in such a way that will not help anyone. When you were that age what would you have thought of your own advice, and then how would you have responded to the things you have just told him.

Seems to me like some couldn't wait for the shoe to be on the other foot. Respect is a 2 way street, this is also the internet and more care needs to be taken to come off as you intend as opposed to sounding like a dick.

The young man made mistakes, it happens and we all do it. If as he says he was in the right while passing then he is innocent, as far as that goes and should simply fight that aspect of it. Accept the speeding violation as it is what it is. Best of luck to you.

    Thanks.

    Speeding... Guilty.
Passing on a double yellow... Innocent.

I'm going to try to find a lawyer tomorrow. Anyone know about what this would cost?

Yes I realize HE doesn't have to prove shit, that's why I said let the court decide as to his innocence.

I apologize, I should have written guilt instead of innocence in my original post.

Systems being abused by the other side to make money and tax people so yes, fuck the already CORRUPT system. Police should be out protecting people instead of being glorified tax collectors.

Ur right, protecting the innocent children running up and down the street from someone greatly exceeding the speed limit and changing lanes in an unsafe location is probably not necessary.

Get a lawyer, like right this second. Try to fight it, hope for court leniency, and learn an expensive lesson. Then slow down, chill out and try to stay out of trouble in your truck.

Do you suppose perhaps the police officer in the case of this citation observed a traffic law violation so severe that he was doing his duty in protecting the lives of the citizens of WY by stopping and correcting this young mans behavior? So as to incite obedience to traffic laws in the long run, thus preventing accidents...and protecting lives and property.

Why are the children in the street in the first place, and if its marked as a passing zone, its just that A PASSING ZONE, doesn't mean the officer gets to make up his own reality.

And as he says the charge for passing isn't true, then fight it because BS charges to get the state more money are even worse.

I've gotten my tickets as well and slowed down, but just as much as officers have a right to ticket you, you have the right to fight the ticket. Welcome to the american justice system.

    neglect, mostly.
that can't be true. all cops are terrible people, we know this ;)

..but my advice OP is to get a lawyer if you can. i sincerely got caught in the middle of a massive b.s. ticket when i was 17 i think it was. nearly got my license snatched for a long long time. luckily i got a lawyer through a relative that fixed everything for me for very cheap.
