Oh and as far as your situation goes dude, sorry to hear it, but perception is 9/10ths of law. And 9/10ths of that court room is going to side against you. Good luck.

You should talk to a lawyer who deals in traffic voilations...I don't believe it's an illegal pass if you start it in a passing zone even if you end where the line is double solid ( I would think within reason of course ). Speeding is speeding, but most of the time they'll reduce the points and charge and just take the money.

That kind of situation is exactly what I was thinking. My mom got a speeding ticket where the trees were overgrown so the speed limit sign was not visible. Turns out the cop had ticketed about 20 people right there, including the small town judge's wife. Wife raised hell with the judge and everyone's ticket got thrown out. And the cop was handed a set of pruning shears and court ordered to remedy the situation. :D

Now passing zone issues aren't the same as that, but if you have proof there's a passing zone there and it's your word against the cop's as to whether you were in it or not, you might just be successful. The cop has to prove you were doing something wrong and you can make a good case that it's plausible you weren't. Worth a shot. Nothing to lose except a license!

In NY I got a speeding ticket for 75 in 55. Just wasn't paying attention. I did it, but didn't want the insurance costs. Also in NY, they issue you a summons and you have to plead guilty to find out the fine. So I got a traffic lawyer instead.

He delayed (for his own reasons, not mine) for 2 years the court date. Finally, he got it plead down to parking in front of a fire hydrant. No moving violation, cost me $275 bucks for the ticket though - the same as the moving violation.

Worth the cost to have only a fine and no points.

Dishonest? Don't think so. Its how the system works. Its about the money for the government, not the public safety.

Get the lawyer, I bet he can get at least one of those tickets reduced to non-moving violations.

    Good luck.

    go to court...

    throw yourself on its mercy...

then, if you are humble in front of the judge and seem sincere...you may keep your privilege to drive.

if so, learn to drive responsibly. remember...driving is a privilege not a right. and the state has the ability to remove said privilege.

btw...if you have face or neck tattoos...you are probably screwed. :D

I thought we weren't allowed to post about doing illegal activities?

And I'm not going to tell you what you want to hear but obey the traffic laws and it won't happen. Sorry but I have no patience for people that drive like an ass.

Nothing wrong with a tat provided it's in a place you can easily cover it up for days when you have to appear in court. Or at a job interview. Or your conservative aunt's funeral. Or whatever. :)

    But x2 on driving responsibly.

There is no way his legal fee's will be $5000. i have used lawyers for traffic infractions before and its always been under a grand. And yes the ticket was either dismissed or reduced.

The ticket should show the closest intersection/mile marker and direction of travel. Take the pictures as a panorama to show the street sign on over to the dashed yellow line. If you are telling the truth and can back it up with pictures you don't need a lawyer.

There are police officers around here that write extra vilolations on the tickets for two reasons:
    1) So you admit to the real violation in court to gain credibility for the unjust ticket
    2) So if you have the money and not the time to go to court they make extra money for the state

If you were breaking the law and a repeat offender, some of them don't have any problem throwing the book at you and seeing what sticks.

Best bet is to follow all of the laws.

I vote show up to court and dispute the passing violation, and you know what to do with the speeding one.
