Sorry to hear your problem OP.

I can say I have done the ecu reset using seeds and tokens etc to allow all keys to be reset... It really wasn't that hard (although I did still have a working key when I started the process. I dont know why the dealer is having an issue, but good luck.

I have a feeling that not having a good key is part of the problem here.

When I bought my 2019 in June, I took it to a remote/alarm/stereo shop I've done business with for close to 30 years. They put the remote start in and the owner mentioned a lock smith that could make chip keys relatively cheaply. I had fob keys, but the new starter doesn't work with them and I just didn't want to carry the fob key and another fob.

I know that he needed my fob key in order to copy the data to the smart key. He also had a programmer that he plugged into the OBD2 port.

He made me two keys for $110.00, which is less than one fob key from the dealer.

Once you get this all straightened out OP, find a quality lock smith and have a key or two made without the remote fob. That way you won't be stranded and if you lose you fob key, it will likely be a lot easier for the dealer to replace it.

Not sure about Tacoma's, buy some vehicles cannot delete a key if the key is detected in the vehicle.

Are you sure you lost the key outside of the truck?
