The insurance company for my car gave me a small tag to put on my key ring, it tells any person that finds them to drop them in a mailbox and once the insurance company receives them they would send them to me, pretty nice feature

The grocery store discount key tags also had that feature, although in really small print: "If found please return to your nearest Vons, Ralphs...". The grocery store could look up the phone number you used to sign up and they'd call. Most people don't have those things on their keys anymore though.

My Stepson years ago , lost the keys to his car , our house keys were on it etc. He left a poster at the Hardees he was at giving a phone # , name and address on it . Once he told me , I promptly changed the locks on our house ! and we put new door locks on his car and what ever else we could think of . There are some bad people out there also so be careful what info is on the tag.

I previously worked at a trucking company. They has the same kind of tags with their PO box # on it. The PO box was linked to the postage account. I did not want ot suggest that to OP as they likely do not have a postage account for guaranteed postage. It would alos not be wise to have a Toyota key with a tag that said basically "Here is where I park the truck that this keys works on".

If one was to look online, there may be a company offering such a service.

Get some 550 cord, tie it to the keys, secure with two half hitches, super glue the knot, burn the end of the 550 so it can't unravel, now tie the free running end to yourself, problem solved.

    Your welcome.

Been wearing mine around my neck for a couple years on a piece of 550 cord.

Lost em a few times... and when you lose your only (truck/ house/ safe/ shop etc) key it can get expensive....

Well don't put an address. That's just silly.

Did he say on the poster:
"Just let yourself in and leave the keys on the counter."

A quick goggle search found this Return The Key

I have no clue how great or poor their service may be. It does look like it could be cheaper than constantly replacing lost keys and it sounds like they protect your ID and such.

I recently had a chat with a 16 year old about responsibility. He wanted to take the car to "hang out with friends" at 10 pm... on a weekday... to drive an hour away... with no license. Insisted that he'd be safe and that he'd "take full responsibility" if anything happened. Asked him: "What do you think it means to take full responsibility?" In his peanut brain it meant that he'd accept being grounded if it came to that and didn't think much beyond it. Asked him if he knew the legal or financial implications if he got into an accident or someone got hurt. Shut him down real quick.
    Stay in school.

Instead of bandaid solutions, I suggest doing some soul searching as to why you have this problem in the first place. If you can't see it for yourself, ask a family member to keep on eye on what you do with your keys when you walk in.

Personally, I keep my 2nd set in my safe and my primary set in a small kifaru backpack I take everywhere with me. It also contains my wallet and anything else I need that day. Much harder to lose a backpack.

...^^^... I have the strongest available ... "TILES" ... on EVERYTHING ... and it has saved my ass many times.

Tile has now come out with a new model that has a replaceable battery and a much longer range.

I put these TILES on luggage, deferent set of keys, wallet and etc .... and you can also find your cell phone with them too.

The NEW TILE is supposed to have a super range too.

Well I’ve misplaced my spare key (with fob alarm) and went to the dealer to get a duplicate.

They quoted me $400 for it. I said no way and I’ll never be back.

Where’s the cheapest place to get a replacement key?
