tried to keep it as nice looking as possible, but it is difficult. i must have cut and flexed and cut and flexed like 30 times.... im convinced its as good as its gonna get without tubing the firewall.... the pinch weld is virtually gone, fender flare got nicked a little and fender liner got loped off pretty good too. i also made a slight amount of clearance on my spindle gussets. plenty of room i think now
I also tried my skills with making steering stops. keep in mind my welds arent as nice as Silas's but its not going anywhere... i angled mine towards the lower ball joint for a nice flat surface contact. Took a long time to dial it in at exactly the right length. I found that the tire gets closer to the frame when stuffed, which makes it very easy to grind the steering stop too low when just checking unloaded.... but i am no longer rubbing frame at all flexing or not. when flexing its about half inch away, im comfortable with that. no for pics!

oh... and since my fener liner had to get trimmed past the pinch weld it allows, water and snow to get into the fender and on the front of the door... i dont like that because water will rust out the bottom of the fender. so i got the idea of expanding foam to fill that void. im gonna try it later today, when the ice melts off the truck. i plan to spray the foam from the door gap side in towards the fender liner.... im thinkin it will easily seal all my gaps. then i got some undercoating for the wheel well for where i beat on it

IMO if you're going to spray expanding foam in there get the kind that is for window and door trim. It's not as aggressive as an expanding foam like original Great Stuff.

heah posted up on the BS thread my thoughts on a spare tire carrier but it is hard to put in writing. Give me a call or come by tomorrow (if you are not working) and I can explain it better. I am putting Geo's winch in after 10am.

I have an idea for your spare but not really sure how to type it out. I'll draw a sketch in a little bit and see if that portrays it well.

EDIT: Ok, so I would just build a simple set up out of 1.5"-2" square tube and some 3/16" plate. It would have a bracket that bolts to the bed floor and a bracket that bolts to the bed side. I don't think this would cause any severe bedside wobble as the intent of the bedside bracket is to only make it more rigid. I would suggest a backing plate behind each bracket to help reduce any flex in the sheet metal and make it more stiff. If it wasn't enough, you could add some extra legs going out at an angle like a big gusset. Just my .02. Not sure if it helps.

sry guys didn't see this til now... ive been working all day or i would have come by Eric! I have decided to go with my strap idea purely because it will be easier to remove when i throw my bike in the bed.... Ben, ur sketch ie very much alike Adams in my other thread. i agree, this would be the better option for sturdiness., but i need to be abke to throw the tire out quicky... i want nd bout all my supplies for it today. got a nice strap, some chain and some retractable anchors....

Also found out today that i dont think i need to move my axle at all... im actually really confused on this. I had to trim when when i mounted my 265 duratracs. now with my 285s, they ride a little close to the front of the bed at ride height. but when stuffed, they fit jut fine.... not entirely sure why? i need to go wheel with them to be sure. shot some pics while checking it out

i also found out i need front bump stops... if i could get them about 1/2 inch taller id be set. Who makes bump stops for stock lcas!?

You don't need bump stops. Just cut more. :D
