Have owned Toyota’s my whole life. Had a 2006 TRD sport for 10 Years. In September 16,bought a new Tacoma SR5 V6. I tried, but could not get past the performance and recall/service issues. Lost confidence in 3rd Gen quality and performance. Love the brand, love the design, loved the looks of the Tacoma. It’s hard to understand why Toyota has not resolved the issues and concerns since they first launched the 3rd Gen with the 2016 models. I was in denial for 14 months but had to face reality on the 3rd Gen. Just stepped up to a 2017 Tundra and love it.

Well, there is something to be said for facing up to your situation and making the choice to move on.

Good luck with the new ride.

Agree 'Yota still has work to do on the Tacos for sure but I do still love driving it for it's agility in tight spots / offroad. Still, if I could fit my wifes SUV and a Tundra in my garage at home it would have been a stronger consideration for the add'l cab room for adults / kids alone. As is, I spend a lot of time in the city, tight underground garages, and like to keep my vehicles inside away from the elements when I'm not abusing them in the outdoors!

Nice rig, congrats on your upgrade!

Try the manual, much better. Probably wouldn't have sold it.

Hey whatever works for you, man. Something tells me you may miss the gas mileage, though. That's the one drawback of the Tundra.

I agree, I have a 2017 Tacoma DCSB TRD off road with M//T and I freaking love it! No issues, no recalls, decent power for a stock 3.5 V6... other than the fuel mileage sucks more than Monica Lewenski I have no issues with it.

You just have to do what makes you happy, several of my buddies drive Tundras but they are just to big for my needs. Enjoy your new truck.

@Tony60 I’m sorry to hear about the troubles with your ‘16 Tacoma. It’s encouraging to see you stuck with a Toyota. I hope the Tundra treats you well.

what 3rd Gen issues are "not resolved"? Sure, there's been some hiccups, but I am not aware of any unresolved.

    Well since you asked.
    1. Sloppy performance
    2. Rattling windows
    3. Rattling dash
    4. Had to replace trans solinoids
    5. Differential recall
    6. Cam sensor recall
    7. Had to replace ECM chip
    8. Lost my confidance
I’m a Toyota fan, but need to have confidence in my truck.

    1- this is kinda vague
    2- totally fixable
    3- totally fixable
    4- sounds like it's resolved
    5- again, resolved
    6- again, resolved
    7- again, resolved
8- feelings, like trucks, can be mended

    so... what's still "not resolved"?

It comes down to a time and money thing... some people don't have the time for their truck to always be in the shop. Sounds like OP had some pretty serious issues with his taco and lost confidence. I completely understand that. Dealing with constant fixes and no loaner vehicle would get very old very fast.
