I have aftermarket headlights in my 09 that have seperate bulbs for the highs and the lows. How would I wire them up so that my low beams are on with my high beams? Any ideas would be helpful.

Update it's been about a year now and I have had no issues with this mod. i use my high beams on avg. 20-30 mins every morning on the way to work. I ve been keeping an eye on the relay no melting or anything.

Wheeler's Off Road sells a product called a Bright Box that does what you want. Otherwise, it would take some creative wiring since there are relays trying to prevent that function.

That link to the foglight mod was just what I was looking for. I just did it and now I got low beams with high beams just like my 67 Olds 442. Thanks a bunch.

Left them on for about 10 minutes the relay gets a little warm but other then that everything seems good. Ill keep an eye on it. As little as you get to use high I dont see them being on any longer then that.

The proper/good way to do this, is to get about 30 CENTS worth of diodes. Take the + side of the high beam, THROUGH the diode, to the + side of the low beam. Then, when the high beam goes on, so will the low. If you install the diode backwards, turning on the low beam will run the high beam.

If you happen to have an old automotive battery charger ready for the scrap heap, it will probably have a couple of nice big diodes that you can salvage from it. These ones will look like stubby black cylinders with large copper contacts at either end.

My aftermarket high is weak probably due to the small reflector and the fact that they use H1 bulbs. I just wanted a way to get a little more light up front until I can get some extra money to put some off road lights on it. With the highs and lows on together with the aftermarket headlights it is close to the factory low beams. The only thing i can see happening with this setup is maybe the relay will burn out and popping some fuses.

He has aftermarket lights with separate bulbs for high beam/low beams. I don't believe you are able to have bi-xenon with both low beam and high beam(please correct me if I'm wrong because I have no idea)

You can have both the low and high beams on with the factory bulbs and housings but you'll end up burning the bulbs out quickly. You're just putting power through both the low and high beam coil in the bulb so you're going to creat a LOT of heat.

All this does is force the high beam circuit to run the low beam bulb as well as the high beam bulb. You'll also want a diode on the + side of the low beam, upstream of where you tapped in so you can't backfeed the circuit when you flip your high beams on. It will work but you're almost doubling the load on the high beam circuit. It should still be lower than the 10A fuse will allow but if you have higher wattage bulbs you'll end up blowing your high beam fuses.

If I read the write up that Doording linked to in the 3rd post ( this is how I did it ) by jumping the posts on the relay the low beam circuit doesn't shut off. So would that mean that the low beam and the high beam circuit are both on at the same time ?

I installed a brite box on an F-150 that I had previously and having the highs and lows on at the same time created enough heat to melt the reflectors just above the bulbs which resulted in the headlights illuminating less of the road than they did originally.
