    Hey,

Just looking for any input. I have a 17 TRD offroad DCSB Auto 4x4. A little over one year of ownership and 11k miles. I drove to work 28 miles, truck was a okay. I go to move it, start, put into drive and it shuts off before I push the gas. Low oil pressure light pops up and then high ATF temp. Nice huge red warnings along with a CEL. I turn the truck off for a minute, restart, good to go. Drove it to the dealer, no word yet.

Has this happened to anyone? or does anyone have the slightest idea what those two could coincide with? Dealer should get back to me by the end of tomorrow, just wanted to check with TW. Unfortunately the truck has been nothing but a pavement queen for months so its pretty darn clean. Along with all the random clanking, shuttering on accel and other drama, im kind of done with this thing. Got this truck for no drama, oh well.

I'm not exactly sure, but there has been cases where the sensor lets go and people are left dead in the water with those warning lights

It will be fixed under warranty

Turns out there is a small dent on my tranny pan. Apparently that's the rout of all evil. Toyota only wants $750 to replace the pan and then further investigate. HMMMMMMMM

The dealer is probably the one that dented the trans pan.

If you have time could you get a picture of the dent? I’m really curious about this

I have a hard time believing that a dent in tranny pan causes high tranny temp and low oil pressure. Neither one of those problems are related. They are two different part assemblies. The only common the two have is in gauge cluster. That's where I would start.

I think further investigate is key word after they sale you a pan and labor. They will fix a warranted issue.

I would like to add. If both tranny fluid and oil for engine run through same cooler but divided and one of those is have problems. It could effect the other. By heating up or thinning oil.

It's possible if the pan is bent it can restrict flow due to the trans filter/pic up is on the bottom in the pan, causing the trans to run hot.

Is it possible that low oil pressure alarm is just from the engine failing to start? It’s a common affect I see on other types of engines Ive worked on.

Ugh, that’s what armor would have cost, now you gotta buy a $750 pie pan?? Can’t they just pop out the dent?!! Seriously! I’m so mad at them for you!

Too bad you can’t take it home, pop out the dent yourself, and then return it... I’ve done that to body shops before, even if it’s not a clean fix, it’s easy enough knocking out some of the dent to make it look smaller before letting them see it - I’ve saved hundreds doing that for myself and for a few friends.

Yeah, the mechanic must have stood up under there, accidentally bumped it with his head, and said “ouch, that hurt” and went on with his business. Now his pie tin is dented.

But really, I’ve seen a local shop do that with their oil changing stand- they left it under the car when they lowered it! Another place I won’t mention left their filter wrench on my Gen 1, then left my skid plate hanging by 4 lose bolts without telling me because they couldn’t get the plate back on due to the wrench. I almost lost the plate driving home. That’s what happens when you do a lube in a jiffy, I guess. I won’t go back to that place (I won’t mention) for any oil changes, ever.

Thanks for all your input guys. I got a pan through parts and fixed it no problem. Truck hasn’t had a hiccup since the first one. I think it just glitched as it was the first coldest day. And Toyota just had to bullshit me. Oh well. Just drove to Vegas and back and it was great. Now unfortunately I have to sell it as I have new job and will be driving 24-7. If anyone knows anyone that’s looking. It’s a lease takeover. 350 a month with asking $10k down. Message if interested.
