2007 DCSB, and this doesn't exactly slice through the wind like a racing yacht. It's basically an aluminum flippac, where the bed folds open over the hood. I'm trying to come up with a way to mount this where I can just fold the fairing down to open the tent.

This arrives today, but it's going to make for a long fairing

Plan b is a the front half of a Yakima roof rack that clips to the door frames, that I can remove, but I have a feeling that would get annoying

Better ideas? Also where can I find info on the bolt pattern of my roof tracks? Rather not rip out the weatherstripping just to see

Edited to show how it opens

A few modular roof rack companies have "camper" racks. You get some wind deflection and some roof rack.

I just cut down the standard Martin rack I had already to have clearance for the Habitat. Works for me!

I've since removed the bedrail caps so the topper sits lower but it's still not exactly a racing yacht.

Edited to original post to add a picture of it fully opened, not a lot of clearance under it. it's sort of a habitat. It opens the other way though, the guy two owners ago built it out of a habitat and a nomad (nobitat? Habimad?) I really like it, but there are little issues like this.

That's a cool setup. I wish mine was lower-profile and yours folding to the front is slick. All of the interior volume was a selling point for me, but I don't love how factory Habitat's take up two parking spots when deployed.

It does complicate the fairing, though, and removing it to deploy the camper is one extra step. All that comes to mind is a torsion spring loaded fairing that flattens when the camper is deployed but I'll keep mulling it over and give you a bump for the meantime.
