That's the brand or are you asking the OP to comment?

OP is the fabricator of the stainless units. The other guy did aluminum. Both have seemed to be have stopped the orders.

I wasn't inquiring about ordering anything - I just wanted to know what kind of arc welder he was welding stainless with.

It’s the Everlast Powertig. Badass little unit, half the price as a miller but throws down a mean weld

You can see the divets Toyota puts in the bumper from the factory here. Just wanted to make sure I can install it anywhere, although this bracket does look like a nice solution.IMG_20180427_092446.jpg

There's nothing behind there other than impact plastic. Otherwise, it is just the bumper material that you are drilling into.

It would take everything that I got to drill a pristine bumper. The dealers have always committed that sin for me. Scratches and such, I don't mind, but I hate front plates and their useless mounts.

For what they are and the intended purpose, front plates should just be vinyl stickers.

I started a conversation with Steven (OP) to make sure I was not stepping on anyone's toes by posting in this thread. I have been selling plate brackets for 2nd and 3rd Generation Tacoma's here on TW for the last couple years. There are links to those threads below in my signature. I have been working with a new design that is similar to the one that @ScubaSteve318 produced but does not involve welding. The last problem I am trying to solve is a secure way to attach it in the holes that will be left when the stock Toyota plate mount is removed. I will let everyone know when I have a working prototype.

I do sell a plate mount that does not require drilling the front bumper on your truck. Check out the link below in my signature for more details.

Edit: Nevermind, I just noticed you had found your own solution!

    Haha! Yeah.

Seriously though, Toyota should be using the OP's or your solution from the get go. Considering the cost of the mold needed to make that worthless mount. . .

Ouch - a bit rich for my taste, but it DOES weld stainless!
