I just replaced mine yesterday with OEM, reused the skirt and bolts. Toughest part was removing the 13 year old rusted cotter pins. Using air tools and HF pitman arm puller made disassembly of the rest easy.
How necessary is it to get an alignment after this?

Your not changing the geometry of any angles. So i would say its not necessary unless you have free alignment somehow. I got 3 years unlimited alignment from pep boys for 130 dollars so i use the shit outta it. :D

Yes. I'm reluctant to disparage any vendor publicly, so will leave my answer at that.

For me, it was Conicelli FTW. Helpful, knowledgable, confident assistance. Good prices and a sale to boot. Everything I need to do both lowers for $193 shipped to my door. I'll be buying from them again.

+1 for Conicelli, I've bought several parts from them recently and always received good service and prompt delivery.

FYI. My lower left BJ had play when pushed in and out, this was on a 100k truck that has stock suspension and sees highway use only. So yes, defiantly a good idea to replace at that mileage.

does anyone know the part numbers for the "skirt" or "dust boot" or whatever? One of mine is missing. If they don't sell them anymore, no biggie. Just curious. Thanks!

That's what people who don't have a pitman arm puller always say.

Did my ball joints last weekend along with tundra brake upgrade. I went OEM with ball joints it came with the 4 fasteners, castle nut and cotter pin require for install, I recommend getting an additional cotter pin for the tie rod castle nut.

Just a heads up OEM set me back about $400

add locktite to the 4 fasteners

Used a pitman to free the ball joints just have to turn your wheel to get the pitman in postion.

My set up didn’t have the ball joint protector shield is that a thing for 01-04 or is it standard for all years?

It seems to be a later year thing.
And with the spacers in that shield/skirting they take 2 of 4 bolts that's a little bit longer on one end of it. 2 bolts each side. So a 'kit' would 4 one length and 4 a little longer for that spacer built into the shield thingy.

I fitted Beck Arnley on Passenger side in Sept. Less than 3000 miles it's squeaking like a SOB so it's coming out Friday. Did a lot of research and OEM seems to be the chosen one but after a lot of research I'm going ProForged. Very good write up's and covered by 1 million mile warranty. I get discount at the stealership but here in Canada $202 each for OEM. Proforged were about half that.

59 ft lb for the four bolts. Idk about the castle nut. I think in the 70s or 80s?
