Im guessing 2nd gen because the cab and chassis is 2nd gen from what I gather. They just swapped the body panels.

How you guys doing. Been reading the thread and wanted to ask if any one has tried this kit from ebay 2005-2015 Tacoma 5 Lug 2" Lowering Kit Lowering Shocks Lowering Struts 3" Blocks. I ordered the 2" front lowering struts and 3" blocks. I received the struts yesterday and will be receiving the blocks today. Now the struts were drop shipped from a company called ChassisTech in mesa AZ. I have read many reviews regarding Chassistech and it seems like the reviews are 50/50 regarding their products. Any one have any input or currently using these lowering struts?
    So I have a 2009 tacoma 4cly 5 lug SR5. Will be running 245/45/19 tires.
My goal is to get a light drop on my truck. I am not looking to C notch the frame. This is my daily driver and I currently drive 130 miles round trip everyday to work.

Can’t speak about these front shocks but the company many times sells crap. They still must be located at the old Coors wear house in Mesa just N of Broadway.
Also note any drop of more than 1 3/4” of drop your going to need new Upper Control arms because they are “Unequal” length arms so the alignment is hard to keep in specs.
As for the rear your right on the edge of bottoming out a lot. You can cut off the riveted on frame bump stops for about a half inch more clearance. But it’s not an easy job. My fabricator said it would save me half of the labor fee to cut them off myself. Boy I see why now.

    Hmmm,
The top photo is the truck riding on the DIY coilover’s w/ about a 2 1/4 front drop on 19x8 & 19x8.5 forged Ray’s or OEM G35 wheels refinished w/ 235 & 245/50 rubber. The rear is 6 lug springs w/ 2 & 1.75” blocks (Taco lean) CNC aluminum blocks. The second from the top is the DIY coilover’s & DJM Upper Control Arms. The third is the DIY coilover’s unloaded before installed. And trust me I started out like you.
I could only get to about 1.75” off drop before the shop I used could keep the front alignment in specs. I have been running a staggered setup from day one so I wanted to make sure the alignment was spot on.
I had an 2015 access cab setup the same until someone talk me into selling them the truck. And this is what he did with it…

Hayrider what upper control arms do you recommend? I am looking to do a 2/3 or 3/3 drop. Most of the lowering spring or hardware links in TW are no longer active links. I am looking to run some lowering springs and struts in the front. For the rear I am trying to stay away from notching the frame.

You could try djm 3/3 with out notching, I ran into a guy who did exactly that,(I’m running same setup w/ notch)clearance looked tight, he said he just never got around to notching it, not sure how it rode.
I ran djm in my 1st gen and just removed factory bump stops and rode fine, not sure what changed on 2nd gen that we needed to notch. I kinda wish I went that route first before notching, at least tried it out first.

Thank you for the reply nightcrawler. Djm look's to be the easiest option. I have read a couple of post on TW where guys did the 3 inch block and no notch.

Personally I think it might be the extra weight of the 2nd. Gen on why it bottoms a lot more.
    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I lowered the front about 2 1/4” with the DJM upper control arms & DIY Viking coilover’s. *Edit* As crude as the DJM parts are I be very nervous about using the DJM lower control arms. Someone on the X-runner Underground had DJM lower control arm break! If they would have been at speed that could have been deadly! For the rear on the Regular cab I used 6 lug leafs = 1 1/4” with a 2” & a 1 3/4” blocks (Taco lean) The only way I wouldn’t bottom out was stiffen the shocks so much that the truck absolutely road like buckboard!
I feel out of ALL the mods I have done to this truck is the StopTech’s and suspension setup with the X-runner sway & the notches is the best!
I have now soften up the shocks to where I’m only running two clicks on the compression and four on the rebound. Before I was running 8 & 8 on the rears. I really thought the rear swaybar would make the Reg. cab oversteer but it hasn’t as of yet. But I haven’t been faster than 45 through a hard turn / corner yet. It might be different at 65 plus but the tires are not the stickiest so I’m a bit nervous about trying to toss the truck around. My NC Miata was a piece of cake to toss as I had it setup to understeer braking into a corner and oversteer with hard acceleration out of the corner.

Has anyone experimented with air shocks for the rear. I saw some old post of 2 gen owners installing monroe MA777 air shocks on the rear. This would possibly help not bottoming out, plus lifting the rear when under a load. They were able to install with some modification done to the shock mount. Unfortunately many of the post are old and no one ever really posted a review on these shocks.

Sorry but I get Error from the above link…

I did check out the specs on the Air Shocks and @12.5” of compression the shocks *might* be just a little to long for lowering the rear of the 5 lug Taco when removing the OEM bump stops from my piss poor memory! I’m *thinking* the compressed length is just under 12” but I really would need to look it up. Maybe unless it was lowered with all block, but I really need to check guys so please double check the length’s! I just remember the rear shocks needed are originally for the 1st Gen Camaro with a single / mono leaf rear spring.
Bottoming out a shock can kill shock/s!
