Group Buy: 2005 - 2017, Dbl Cab, Short Bed only
Ends: March 25, 2018!! (Looking into extending)

Extended range fuel tanks, Australian company, Long Range Automotive: 129 litre/~34 gallon fuel tank: https://longrangeautomotive.com.au

Helps beat sticker shock on fuel with less fill ups. I'm in for the range and limited trips to ethanol free gas stations. These tanks are direct fit, replacements for the originals. All mounting hardware as well as installation instructions are included. https://longrangeautomotive.com.au/file/12729/536

Importer, Cruiser Brorhers, LLC, will handle the logistics of importing fuel tanks. Cost to Tacoma World members is: $1395.00/tank if referenced at checkout: Tacoma World - Jimbo623. Estimated arrival time from end of Group Buy - (March 25, 2018) is 8 weeks. Tanks are shipped via water freight, originating from Melbourne Australia and delivered to Stockton, CA. From there, shipping cost to your door, varies by location. Estimated shipping costs, according to Cruiser Brothers, ($200 - western states - $300 eastern states). Payments would be made through Cruiser Brothers:
    https://www.cruiserbrothers.com

The current "Product list" through Cruiser Brothers, does NOT show these tanks but, I have been informed they will shortly, as this product just became a part of their inventory.

    [IMG][IMG]
Mounting locations have limited these tanks to ONLY DCSB trucks, retrofitting to fit your truck can be done with some effort or so I've been informed. Post or PM me if interested, not just thinking.

I have a Longbed, but am very seriously interested.
Any input as to what additionally needs to be done to make it work?

    Thanks in advance!

I have a longbed as well and am definitely interested provided this can be made to fit with no serious modifications

$1,700 for a gas tank? I would look at some other options, personally. I know some have bolted in Ford gas tanks in 4Runners. Or better yet, put that money towards a rear bumper and stick a couple of gas cans back there...

By the way, I've got to figure out if there is an option to hide people's avatar's. Do you serious not have enough female interactions that you've got to put a risqué pic on there?

What’s the tank made from? Aluminum?

Looks cool, and I'm sure there will be some interest here and there but that is some $ for an extra 15 gallons but for true expedition-minded folks you can't put a price on extending your fuel range by a couple hundred or more miles I guess. Will give a whole new meaning to Taco Lean without some suspension work I'd think!?

Holy cow, that's awesome! Likely can't justify it with the other projects i'm working on currently, but would love to have one
    of these in the future.

Cool idea but I can only imagine the amount of spacers you'd need to fix that much taco lean....

Is there going to be another group buy? I can do it until September is to many projects right now. I am 100% getting just asking if another buy will be done later in the year?

Lessons I learned during an extented trip off-roading a lot from Tijuana to Cabo San Lucas in Baja California:

    1) carry a bar of ivory soap in your toolkit to stop gasoline leaks crom a ruptured tank (whittle it into a plug -it makes a great emergency plug that wont dissolve in gas)

    2) dont rely on keeping all your gas, and water, in a single large tank!

    3) bring a spare car battery if solo camping
( :crapstorm:yes- people do it and I know the risk)

    4) locals are your friends.

    5) locals are definitely your friends, especially the ones that carry ivory soap and spare gas.

With that, I learned the hard way of not putting all my fuel in one big tank if you are off-roading in rough remote places. When I need extra gas such as during my trailer towing ventures, I now carry thee 6-gallon DOT approved safety gas cans instead of all in one tank (like I used to have in a van) that I keep in a leak proof storage bin between the rear wheels in the bed.

This is another question I'll bring up with Cruiser Brothers. My thoughts are, if interest persists, yes another group buy.

What can happen in Baja, will happen in Baja....then here are "Known knowns, known unknowns, unknown unknowns..." :D

Takes up a little bit of bedspace, but I am considering a Transfer-Flo tank, keeps it midship for a little bit better balance.

I couldn't afford to fill it up here in Hawaii at 3.43/gal.....buy gas cans and use $1700 for gas.....
Nah, you guys have the luxury of long trips state to state, here it's a hundred miles one side of the island to the other, and that's the long way! Looks nice though, maybe have one made for less?

    That is pretty cool.

Having it in the bed makes me a little nervous since every single truck I have owned has always had a camper shell...though I have been carrying jerry cans for years, can't see it being any more dangerous than what it already I do.

Did have a whole gallon of premix for the chainsaw spill over when I had a 4Runner...that sucked for a while.

Yeah- thats why I carry my extra cans in a big spill proof box with a sealed lid for extra protection. But large outside tanks can be bad, too. Besides losing a large tankful while driving off-road in Baja in a Ford van a long time ago, I once happened to be the first responder to arrive to an accident where an overturned pickup lacking a bed had just sideswiped another car. The driver, drunk as hell, was still in the cab while a deluge of gasoline was showering down on him through the broken rear window from the upturned 30+ gallon gas tank. He and his entire cab interior were soaked in it! So lucky it didnt light up!!
