Also I did finished up the gasket swap last night. Plugs were oily but were cleaned up.

 

So what's the weight savings on these batteries, 30+ lbs off the front of the truck? Also, did you do anything special to run an AGM battery? I heard our charging system in the 4.0 isn't designed to charge AGM batteries properly and you have to get other parts for it to operate properly. Is that true or am I misunderstood? I live in southeast PA and I know they don't fair the best in cold climates, coldest it's ever been here was single digits but usually teens. And that is a rare occurrence usually. Just weighing my options and wanted to pick your brain.

 

I did nothing special, just install and go. Takes a little over 20lbs on the nose and you can feel that in the steering. I would've installed a antigravity battery but didn't want to spend money that I'm using to build my gtr. Depending what your gonna use the truck for will depend on what battery to use. @BassAckwards is using the same battery I think on a more off roady build.

 

New intake for the 4runner as I had commandeered it for the Tacoma to help smooth out the maf signal.

Cool guy, wants me to help install a lift kit and wheels/tires on his Sequoia. Was willing to pay me but I'm like knock some monies off the paint job for the Tacoma and that's good enough for me.

 

I did but I figured with the wiring and mounts needed it wouldn't be worth it in its current trim. Now if the weight reduction goes much further then I most likely will do it to help with the weight distribution.

 

installed thale second intake. The qc at afe seems to be going downhill. On the seal to the fender there is no lip for the weatherstripping to grab just a smooth section so the seal always wants to lift off, second the box itself was warped so I used a heat gun and some physical persuasion to make it true to the lid.


Reinstalled the spare 70mm throttle body.



So the jaos grill uses these tiny bolts, maybe 5mm definitely a 1.0 thread, and washer to help clamp down the grill to the hood. After completion it feels good but now I feel like I need to invest in some hood latches like on the Tacoma. I was pending to see if seibon is making a carbon hood but I don't think it'll happen for the 4th gen. Never say never but I'll cut up this hood in the meantime.







The jaos covers at lot less of the hood than the OEM grill for those interested.

 

That metal hood needs Aerocatch?
