Hi guys, I am completely befuddled. I've had my 98 Tacoma for 12 years and just the other day I took my truck into a tire shop to fix the flat. They fixed it but then refused to put that wheel back on the vehicle, saying that I have the wrong lug nuts on my wheels. Can someone look at these photos and tell me if the tire techs are wrong, or do I really have the wrong nuts, and if so, which ones do I need? First picture is the wheel with no lugs. Second picture shows the current lugs on my steel spare wheel that they were willing to mount. And third pic shows the full alloy wheel. Thanks! DSC03459.jpg DSC03460.jpg

Would especially help if I can see pics of the correct lug nuts and part numbers if available. I've been driving this truck a long time and this is the first I've heard of the lug nut issue.

    Tire tech is right
You need washer type lug nuts with your alloy wheels.

Toyota alloy wheels use a shank style nut with a built in washer, like this...

There are several Toyota part numbers that would work, as well as various aftermarket versions. Just make sure they are 12x1.5 threads.

Thanks Black Dog Lila, khail19 and Empty_Lord. I need the ones with washers. Wyoming09, first picture shows what the holes in the wheels look like. I'm going to some from a private seller--they look like the above.
