i found it for 270$, is it worth it? i drive a bit on the roads but alot of wheeling on the weekends, dirt roads, muddy fields other stuff.

And, i hear tire wear is a problem.. how bad is it, i just spent a pretty penny on new tires and dont want them gone any! time soon

as it has been disscussed in the other threads. its allows the tires to rotate at different speeds during cornering. unless you drive like a bat outta hell tire wear is not gonna be an issue. just be cautious in the rain.

I have no experience on the subject but $270 seems like a pretty good deal for a locker.

    Sooo....bump

thats a very good price. considering every1 else told you to buy a $1k selectable that a shop want $200-$300 to install. you can install the lunchbox locker your self. its called a lunchbox locker because it fits inside you diff case the you already have.. instead of replacing the whole unit. so there is no need to setup backlash on ring and pinion etc. etc.

$270 is a very good price if it's the no-slip version. Definitely worth it.

Did you read the whole article I posted?

If you get alot of ice on the roadways where you live, I'd recommend against it.

ok so i wasloking at these and i am a little confused???? so i was looking at this:

    http://www.rocky-road.com/noslip.html

so is it a limited slip until you engage the locker??? or is a just a locker that performance like a limited slip on pavement??? (that seemslike it mightnot be a very good locker)

No, it's more like it's open until one wheel starts to slip or you punch the gas. Then it locks immediately unlike the Detroit which takes a second to spool.
