Yep. Kinda odd the 2g's didn't get lighted 4WD knobs. Photo from a 3g Taco below



Has anyone looked into whether a 3g Taco switch would fit?

I'm pretty sure those are factory. They did orange and white clocks

 

Didn't know that. Mine is white so I was wondering if he'd swapped the clock LED's too

 

its factory.

 

Does anyone have a way to identify a legit Toyota/Hilux switch against counterfeits? I ordered one off eBay and it seems kinda sketchy - came in a really cheap box, no Toyota P/Ns or labels, and switch was inside a small ziploc bag. Just want to be sure I don't install jank parts. I searched around the web and found nothing so this thread might be the only hope. Cheers.

You don't happen to have a picture of the inside of one of these showing what you change, do you? I think it was you who changed the lamp in mine for me several years back, and now it doesn't illuminate all the time. I think a connection has worked loose, and I was going to try fixing it myself.

 

Each LED has a tiny notch in the corner which is the cathode end. In the image below the top left LED you can see the little notch in the top left corner.



If you're holding the switch upright and looking from the front



Left LED notch to the left
Middle LED notch to the right
Right LED notch to the left

If I did do it for you though I don't mind at all repairing it and paying the shipping costs.

Got the emitters ordered up, thanks @nazlax10 for that one. Hope I can manage the soldering and not f up polarity. Man these switches are not cheap.

 

That looks like the right part number, but the eBay link isn't pulling up anything.

As far as polarity, the LED will have a notched corner, and that notch will line up with a white "C" on the circuit board for cathode.
