These rings will allow you to mount your lighted Hilux 4x4 switch into the bezel for a proper fit. The Hilux switch itself can be found on ebay. This thread is for the RING, not the switch. $39 shipped, (Canada is extra) Pm me to order.

    Instructions for wiring up switch:
    You need (2) Terminal connectors- P/N 82998-12420.
Then follow this thread starting from step 11 for the wiring. Very easy to do and only takes a few minutes.

Essentially yes, the plugs are the same, you just need to run a t-tap for illumination behing the HVAC controls.

Heres the instructions taken right from @nazlax10 build page

It fits the stock dash piece but only with the spacer ring mentioned in this thread. It doesn't clip in so you epoxy it in place.

    Here you go!

It requires two terminal wires to be ran from behind the HVAC controls into the current 4x4 plug. The wiring information is in the directions I just linked.

Edit: Also the old switch can only be removed by removing the panel. It's not extremely difficult but it is time consuming. About an hour for someone who's never done it before. Let me know if you have any questions.

Also I'd like to post that the factory color of the hilux switch is blue leds. This can be changed for about $8. If you're good at soldering you can do it. If not I will do it for you for $10, just pay the shipping for the switch from me to you. Let me know if you have any questions.

Oh this is only the list for the spacer ring needed. Everyone is responsible for ordering the switch on their own. @kgarrett11, geek house23 would like a ring please.

You can use a 4runner switch. I had that before my hilux switch. It requires the same wiring but does not require the spacer ring. It fits in the factory hole. Bottom line the 4runner switch looks better with the silver panel, and the hilux switch looks better with the black panel.

The 4 runner switch is more bulkier and sticks out more and grey (obviously). If that one is more your taste I will sell you mine once my Hilux is done

Thanks, man... pretty cool mods right here, but for what it's worth and the time and effort, I think I'll just keep wandering around in the dark. ;)

    OK, man... thanks!

The link that I read here has you taking apart the 4R switch just for the diffuser and bulb, then taking apart the Taco switch to insert those parts....

So your 4R switch is plug and play with just a lighting wire splice/tap?

Wait... Sorry, I'm threadjacking... PM me when your ready.

4 runner and Hilux are essentially the same switch. The runner is gray, bulky, and a direct fit. The Hilux is black slim and needs a ring to fit, Both are illuminated from the Hvac panel and have the same plugin.

I should be ordering a Hilux switch right now as well because of everyone ordering the ring to fit it. I'm in no big hurry though, it will get done when it gets done. Is that even possible with a Tacoma?
