    so, 2013 taco turd auto

almost every drive, going over the mildest street bumps, corners, just
about constantly, a little creak or tick coming from the console area

it would quiet down when I forcefully pressed down hard on the center console
    when driving, but come back

for months, I press on this and that to try to isolate the tick, and I thought
I had it solved by putting a little foam here, a plastic shim there, whatever...

nope, may have gone away for a few days but it's back again.

    ----
well I finally solved it. opened up console for the 20th time
(unscrew shift knob, pull up, pull off plastic shift surround)
expecting to further shim in some thin latex rubber on the edges, or anything

and it finally hit me...go wiggle them damn black-plastic wire protected wire
runs inside there. same sound. so I wedged a large clean wool sock in there and
    wrapped up the wires....

    SOLVED

it was the wire runs under the center console creaking.

and now I know where one lost sock is. under my console.

No longer discard single socks. Save for sound deadener.
