Does anyone know of a MagSafe charger with a 1” ball mount I could use with the Taco Garage dash mount? This seems like it should be a thing but my searches so far come up empty.

I’ve had two over the years. Both ended up not actually charging the phone. It would say it was charging, but at the end of the drive the battery was lower than when I started. Especially so if I was streaming music and using the phone for navigation. These are the two I tried. I have an XS for what it’s worth. If you find one that actually works I’d be interested in it.

Thanks for that. I actually saw those, but was/am unsure of the ball mount size. Obviously these are complete mounting solutions, but if it has a 1” ball on the actual mount part, I guess those could work. I’ll have to look around for some more options like this. I’ll take your word for it that it didn’t work well. I’m using the MagSafe iPhone 12 case. I would think a strong enough magnet is key to a good charge while driving and the normal vibrations that come with it.

I just put a RAM mount tough charger on my dash and it charges as fast as the wireless chargers at home. Plus it keeps the phone very still. Much better than the regular x grip for whatever reason. It’s not MagSafe per se but will still charge the phone.

Both of those mounts need this adapter. This adapter goes into the back of the mount, then your 1” ram arm goes from the ball on the mount to the ball on your dash. I think most mounts will need it.

Is this a new product? My previous post described my past failures with a mount like this, but I trust the Ram brand so I might have to give this a shot.

This one is actually made by the folks at RAM mounts, not another company that uses their mounting system. As far as I know this is the first time they’ve made something like this and I’m very happy with it. It is pricey though...

I like this, except the $130 price tag. But if it works this might be the solution I’m looking for. If I don’t find anything else I’ll bite the bullet and grab one of these. Thanks.

Add up the cost of the two previous mount/charger combos I tried that failed and you’re almost at the price of this. You can actually confirm it CHARGES your phone, like the battery percentage goes up and it just doesn’t say it’s charging?

Agreed! I put a knockoff wireless charger in my armrest and it is a slow trickle at best. I wanted something that was going to do a better job, and this thing sure does

It sure does! Even with Waze and Spotify running the percentage will go up. Granted iPhones are capped at 7.5 watts with regular Qi charging, so a legit “MagSafe” charger is still going to pump out a little more power.
