You take chapman east up towards Santiago Canyon. Eventually Chapman turns into Santiago Canyon. You then make a left onto Silverado Canyon and just follow this until you get to the trail head.

Andre have you been up there yet? If the gates locked at Skyline we might have to go to coral canyon which i never been threw. I Pmed a guy and he said it was open over on his end. I know for sure the Bedford Road (4S03) Is open it exits off the 15 but its a much shorter run. If we exit bedford we might as well turn around and exit maple springs. Eh I have all day so its all good.

Or we'll make a choice once we get onto Main Divide from Maple Springs and see how much of the day went by.

Since I couldn't join you tomorrow I decided to hit it up myself today! Very cool and fairly easy. I did put it in 4hi and 4lo and locked the rear just to make sure its all good to go should I need it.

I arrived at Maple Springs about 4pm, then the road is paved for about 10 mins and turns into a fire road. I took this all the way up to the first radio/microwave towers and got there around 5. I took some pics and am downloading them now. The view from the top was amazing. I could see from Malibu to Camp Pendleton and Big Bear to the east.

There were a few other vehicles on the trail, an old two door RAV4 was the first thing I encountered. If that guy can get up there anyone can, even a subie. A Jeep, an FJ with a snorkel shot by me and was gone! Saw a gray DBL Cab LB sport hanging out at one of the outlooks. Couple guys on dirtbikes, and three Search And Rescue SUV's with large antennas. Very cool stuff.

I tested all the electronic stuff on our tacos briefly. Made sure to keep the RSCA off while on the trail. The VSC off with LSD on worked well and turns off when 4X4 is engaged. I didn't get to check out the functionality of the ATRAC/A-TRAC. Next time.

Some questions regarding trail etiquette (sp). Who has the right of way. I didn't want to be a dick but going up and down the trail I found there didn't seem to be any formality regarding right of way.

    Pics to come!

A group with more rigs has the right of way. Pulling off 10 trucks to the side of the cliff is harder then 1 truck. If its a car let them by. If its a bike or person they have the right of way. But I follow the rule of.. IF I HAVE ROOM I'll move.

I'm glad you had fun on the trail NOW PICTURES! How far did you go up? Subies tend to break up there. Seen a few if they are not local then they break things.

Did you get to the second big flat area? Thats where Main Divide Starts. Doesn't take more then 1hr or even less then that. Just saying if Skyline is closed and this phone number doesn't work then we have to back track.

Yea Im sure I got that far. I was on the trail for a little over 4 hours last time. What phone number are you talking about? The last time I went (which was like a month ago), I didnt see any gates closed. Dont know if thats indicative of anything but hopefully tomorrow will be the same case.
