I read on other threads. Use the trip button and ignition on/off to reset. The procedure is around in this forum somewhere.

I have a 2009 Tacoma with 70,000 miles and I just realized the maintenance light blinking six times for the first time as well

My truck has recently started doing this. It only does it sometimes though. It’ll blink when I crank it but doesn’t stay on. I know it’s not the oil change because I changed it less than 1k miles ago. Should I be worried? I drive an 05 Prerunner TRD sport 2wd 4.0
I have never experienced this in the 5 years I’ve owned this truck.

The computer doesn't know you changed the oil, the maintenance light comes on in certain mileage intervals regardless of when you do the maintenance. Most shops will reset the maintenance light when they do an oil change so if you've had shops do it in the past, that's probably why you haven't seen it before.

After you change your oil, follow the procedure for resetting the maintenance light and that will time it with your oil change.

Right now it's blinking to let you know you have an upcoming oil change based on the interval it uses from the last time it was reset

The blinking is what it does when you have a change coming up, once you've surpassed the mileage interval for the change then the light will stay solid.
