Yes I am saying I would change it. But if you look at the scheduled maintenance it says to inspect every 30k and replace if you tow. Unless you have limited slip, which I don't.

Oh okay I see what your saying. Now I haven't towed anything to heavy since I had my truck and never tow anything on a regular basis. But I'm still going to change out all my diff. oil all-around, front, back and transfer case. I was originally just going to do the back but everyone said since I was down there, I should just do all of them so I bought extra diff. oil and friction modifier.;)

I'm surprised no one has posted a link to http://smg.toyotapartsandservice.com/. That's the company line on maintenance. If you click on "print all intervals" it delivers a PDF for all intervals up to 120K miles IIRC. You can then search for stuff like "transmission" or whatever to find the recommended intervals.

My Matrix has the 120K plugs but on the ('06) Tacoma it recommends plugs every 30K.

ATF is lifetime fill unless you tow, but I'm inclined to agree with stangman that occasional fluid changes could prevent failures down the road.

You replaced all plugs with Denso, or did you do the true OEM-spec and do 3 Denso's and 3 NGK? :D

They do all come that way, and nobody on this forum has come up with a good reason for it. Run a search for "spark plugs" and check out the theories.

Sorry, threadjack over. Please return to your regularly-scheduled maintenance thread.

It doesn't...I went all NGK after I pulled the facory-installed plugs at 30k. I'm sure that you or I will let the board know if either one (or both) of our trucks assplode.

Not impossible at all. If memory serves both skid plates need to be removed (off road) or just the single skid plate on the Sport/base model.

10mm hex head socket (allen key type) will remove both the drain and fill plugs. Lots of gunk accumulates in the hexagonal hole so dig it out beforehand with a small screwdriver or similar. They are usually pretty snug so be prepared with a decent wrench/ratchet/socket combo. Easy to strip as well so ensure the hex head is clean and the bit well inserted.
