Ya I was curious to there cost and looked at both the cvt and tepui. They seem to be around 1500 to 1800$ I think. So I was shocked at first lol. But they definitely look well made and simple. I read on cvt page that they will be at king of the hammers in Johnson valley this year as a vendor and you can also purchase them there and they will set it all up for you on site for no cost. I live right by there so might go take a look.

I ended up going with the Mt. Bachelour (2+ person tent with the annex/changing room) The discount code ended up paying for the shipping and a little bit of the annex. My girlfriend and i slept in it when we used it and it was plenty big enough for one more smallish person or your dog. We where comftorable and warm. The annex changing room is a little bit of a pain to instal but will probably use it on longer trips.

The tents are super well made. Canvas is strong. Only complaint is the bases and "rails" you slide the cover and annex on bend/dent easily and one of rails was bent from shipping. Not a big deal, just have to be careful with it.

Putting the tent on and opening it up isnt hard. I watched a few youtube videos and it made it super simple. Once you get all the hardwear installed, its a breeze to mount it on whatever your putting it on. Took me 10 minutes to bolt it on and even less to unbolt it and take it off my rack.

I may try to make it out to King of the Hammers this year. Not to sure yet but if i do, you are more than welcome to come check it out if you want.

Awsome. I took a look at Blackdawgs build of his rack and he has a cool design where his rack telescopes up and down to make his rack low and compact then raises up when he deploys the tent and annex. Pretty cool idea. Ya if you have never been to K.O.T.H it is a sick experience. Unlike any offroad event I have been to. It's HUGE. and super fun.

Yeah when i was looking to build mine, i looked at his a lot but ended up solid mounting it for convience reasons. Plus wanted to be able to still crawl in the bed as well since i have my highlift mounted in there and would lke to make a little rack that goes from bed rail to bed rail towards the front of the bed. Plus i made a place to hold a table as well below the tent. My only complaint with mine is how high it is. I dont feel any more body roll (Still have sway bars) but can defintly feel the wind catch the tent on the highway if theres a cross breeze.

Looking into using some 4 runner roof racks right now for a fairing and possibly a way to mount two kayaks on the room hopefully.

Yeah i grew racing jeeps with my dad in best in the desert and snore and then a 16 car and while that was going on i also raced desert bikes all over the west coast as well. Got out of racing when i got injured last year though. Got pretty burnt out. Now my dads got a pretty built jeep and has wanted to go to KOTH for a while. Depending on work, im gonnna try to make it out.

Nice sounds like you have a cool plan for what you want. I see why you would have to have a high rack for your annex now. I have always been into desert race stuff too. Just got a dual sport as well (xr400) but I was in a work accident and it's been sitting. Never raced though. That's rad though your dad is skilled and can help you with your builds!= $priceless

Going to do my best to make it to the Overland Expo in Flagstaff this year in May. It may only be a weekend trip but i think it will be fun to check out. Trying to convince the gf to go at the moment.

Went to the junk yard yesterday searching for a few things.

Over a year ago, my driver side power lock motor has started grinding and making this awful sound anytime i use the power locks to lock the door. Since then, I have just locked the doors by pushing down on the thumb near the window and unlocked them using the key. Was hoping to find a driver side door for a Tacoma or 4runner but had no luck as they where all stripped.

But the day wasn't a total waste as I was able to find a 4runner roof rack with several extra supports and knobs, some 4runner front mud flaps that i made work for the rear and some seats out of a scion car to replace the horrible seats that are in mine now.

    4runner Rack:
Hoping to use this to mount a wind fairing for the RTT and to put Kayak mounts for summer trips to the river and lake and whatever else I can throw up there.

    Seats:
They are just dirty and dont have any rips or major flaws. Hoping to get them cleaned up this week. Probably wont put them in for a while. When I do it though, planning on pulling the carpet and putting in sound deadening/ insulation and possible re-carpeting it.

Didnt get a final picture with both of them on since it got dark so early but will try to get one later this week. Went on pretty easy, I ended up making two different brackets to support them since the bolts only went into the fender flare and not into the bedside. Pretty sturdy so far!

Pulled the passenger seat today to see if they would fit. Sit a little higher than the stock ones. Heads pretty close to the ceiling so will mess more with them next week once I clean them. May have to cut the bracket/slide off and mount the stock ones to make them work. Not sure yet. Definitely gave the truck a different feel thats for sure!

Ya I would think the mounting holes would not line up, my guess would be that you would have to use the brackets off your old seats as you talked about. They look way more comfy though! Lol
