I'm stoked on your exhaust, did you do it yourself?

It was actually perfect. No wind all day. Not to hot, not to cold. Right as we pulled into camp, we felt a couple rain drops but they went away and it wasnt very cold at night sitting around the fire. Wind was ripping pretty good in the middle of the night but woke up to a little bit of shade and sun coming over camp. Probably best weather ive had in a long time on a trip haha

Yeah it was actually pretty easy. Got a magnaflow muffler from rock auto and had some exhaust tubing and elbows laying around. Maybe took an hour. Having a little trouble with it now as it keeps breaking welds if they are just welded to a support without a rubber hanger in the middle and then it rattles. That and drilling a 3 and half inch hole in the bedside was a little unnerving haha.

But it was fairly simple. Cut the old muffler out and welded the new one in. Mocked up the elbows and tubing by just sliding the pieces over each other till we got it where I wanted it. Welded those to the muffler and had it stop about 4-6 inches before the bedside. Drilled the hole in the bedside and then used an exhaust clamp and attatched the last piece to the rest and thats the piece that sticks out. Got some high temp paint from lowes and painted that piece. We then used the original hangers from the stock muffler (the ones with the rubber part) and then added another support just welded to the frame and the top of the tubing. Can take some pictures later today if youd like.

    Logandale Trails- 01/23-24/2016

After using the tent and truck on New Years, I was itching to do another trip. I had taken the tent off for work as I was going in a lot of parking garages and there had been a lot of rain in the forecast. After working several long weeks and some busy weekends, I finally found an open weekend to do some wheeling and camping. I called up my buddy I went to high school with who had a Jeep cherokee and asked if he wanted to go. He was down (along with a friend who just wanted to ride along with him) and we decided to head out to Logandale Nevada and try some of the trails it had to offer.

We left Vegas on Saturday (Buddy worked Friday night) around noon and made the 45 minute drive out to Logandale Trails. Once we got there, we hit the dirt and headed down what I thought was the main trail but ended up turning into a bunch of big sand dunes that dead ended. After almost getting stuck, I decided to air down quite a bit since I didnt have 4 wheel drive and only had the rear locker. It worked out great and after turning around a few more times, we finally found the main trail away from all the parking lot heros. We set off doing Trail one which was pretty easy to moderate at times. Lots of sandwashes with small water falls and edges. I ended up dropping into a pretty large hole coming down the wash. Was just a stupid mistake on my part and ended up needing a pull out. (Jeep-1, Tacoma-0) We followed this to what we thought was the Overton wash but once we got to the turn off to continue onto trail one, it was a pretty steep and nasty off camber up hill with no "shoulder" and a lot of large rocks and rain ruts. We opted not to do it as both our cars where our daily drivers and we still needed to get home on Sunday for work and such.

From there we continued down the wash till it dead ended and turned around and headed back the way we came to find a camping spot off of trail 14 which split off from one near the beginning. After an exciting encounter with some atvs who where lost, we found a pretty good camping spot at the base of one of the giant red rocks. Right as we started setting up camp, we could feel a few sprinkles starting to fall but it quickly passed over. The weather on this trip was perfect. No wind (although it did get pretty windy in the middle of the night), just a little bit of cloud cover, and it wasnt to hot or cold. We cooked up some tacos and sat around the fire catching up since we hadnt seen each other since we graduated. After a few more pictures, we decided to call it a night and went to bed.

The two of them slept in the back of his cherokee and I had the tent all to myself! Inside of my fleece liner and sleeping bag with a blanket over the top of me, I was warm all night and woke around 8. We made a quick breakfast and broke camp and made the short trip back to the main dirt road. The last climb out of the canyon had a trail next to it that had a few small waterfalls. I went to check it out and decided to give it a try. I made it up the first part no problem but had the truck centered over a crack. I was turned just a little to much and the passenger rear tire fell in the crack. Upon trying to back out of the hole, I hit the bottom of the bedside and put my first dent in the truck and smashed up the mud flaps. So I ended up just being able to drive straight out of it and made it up no problem. My buddy decided to give it a go. In 4 low, he revved the engine to get over the crack, the jeep tetered and came down and he ended up snapping the front drive shaft. No big deal, we will just remove it and take it off. Well the previous owner stripped one of the bolts. After messing with it for a while, we bailing wired it to the frame and yanked him out backwards (Jeep-1, Tacoma-1) and we drove the 5 miles to the nearest shop where we borrowed a bigger pair of pliers and eventually got it off.

From there we fueled up and headed home just to get stuck in an accident traffic.

All in all, it was a great trip. I learned a lot about my truck and we are already planning the next one. Once he fixes the drive shaft of course haha.

Our turn around point. It dead ended into the canyon behind us.

    The hole...

Doesnt look very big in the pictures but it swallowed the front end of the truck. Was actually almost sitting on the cross member.

Poor broken jeep.. Made a nice area to work underneath it though as there was a big gap on the other side.

It sounds just like most other tacomas with a magnaflow, not gonna lie. Its a little loud for what I wanted but you quickly get used to it. It sounds best though from idle to about 2500 rpms.

Looking to add a few shackles to the truck, Any ideas where i can put some mounts for them? Thinking about having two come off the rear maybe off the hitch tube? Not sure about the front. Anyway i could use the stock mounts and put shackles off of them?

Ran out of day light yesterday, so took some this morning. And I was wrong. Thought it was a magnaflow but its actually a flowmaster haha

    Some pictures:

Where it comes out on the bedside

Right before the bedside (Can see the exhaust clamp)

Coming off of the muffler. The hose clamp is where the welds keep breaking. Seems to be working so far on the street. Still rattles in the dirt a little.

Sounds good. I should be there for sure. Maybe the gf or dad. Not sure yet. Looking to do some wheeling and hiking and walk around the expo a little. Trying to keep the trip pretty low budget though.

Thanks! Debating whether I should make a tear drop type piece to put around where it comes out of the exhaust. We will see. May mock it up and see how it looks.
