The part of that shaft with the marks probably won't pass through the seal often. Might not affect performance / durability if you're not bumping out all the time. That rod end isn't bad. You can always swap them out with other Fox, King or (I believe0 SAW rod ends build for 7/8 Shafts. Uniballs and seals are great prices here if they need a rebuild:

Thanks the marks on the rod ends don’t bother me so won’t be replacing them. They may need new uniballs though so we will see. Thanks for the link

What are you going to have as bump stops?

Not sure yet. Because of space reasons it’ll be a 2 in hydro bump somewhere in there. Either threaded ones from locked, kmc off-road, or dv8 if it goes on the bottom of the frame or just standard ones from fox on the outside or inside the frame. Have to see what ends up fitting. There will be a lot going on in the front lol.

Obviously those are going up front. You going to be getting bypasses for the rear as well? :p

Cant you set those shocks up so they act like an air bump? Isnt that what the bump travel is?

I may be totally talking out my ass, I'm like one notch above buying cheapo white body shocks from vatozone for my truck.

That’s the plan. Need to find some 2.5 12s though. I didn’t put the frame mount high enough for 14s and I’m not cutting it up lol maybe a softer pack if tuning shocks doesn’t smooth it out.

So everything I’ve read on this says yes you can tune a bypass to be a bump stop but doesn’t work great on a crawler because the low speed has to be so stiff you end up losing a lot of the shock travel or something. I have to do a lot of reading on how to mount them let alone how they work hahah.

Yeah exactly - you won’t compress your final bypass zone easily if you’re not hitting it hard.

Yep put the air bumps in the rear and it’s nice. Plan is to cut the frame to get as much uptravel as possible for some go fast fun

Still waiting for my rear 3 link kit to be finished. I’ll keep you informed on my rear 2.5 FOX’s.

I missed this, but do everything you can not to cut into the bed. Thats one of the biggest regrets I have made, especially if you ever remotely even use your truck, as well a truck. The longer shocks wasnt worth the tradeoff in shit falling out of the holes in the bed, or constantly worrying about ripping a resi hose, or tearing up whatever I'm carrying back there.

Never cut mine and not redoing the upper mounts so no plans to cut it either. Nothing wrong with the rear either. I think with a better shock and some thinner leaves it’ll do better in the go fast as it already flexes really well

One more day left here at trail hero. Ran a bunch of trails so far and just having fun with my dad. Trucks doing well. Working it hard and it’s not disappointing. Ran johns trail with a few other Tacoma’s today which was cool

also picked up some more parts for the front end I ordered and bought some more but that’s still to come

Some parts I picked up at trail hero and more being drop shipped this week. No real issues. Hose clamp on exhaust came lose. Rear axle drive flange is leaking. Overall good trip. Watched one rollover were dude is lucky to be alive since he wasn’t wearing his seatbelt and a buddy rolled his yj but we got it upright and pulled the plugs and started right up.

Old stuff is out. Going down to the steel yard tomorrow to get metal for the frame and cut the old stuff off tomorrow. Raised the motor 2.75 in. Just from holding stuff up and matching the rear/existing ride height, should end up around 24-25 inches to the bottom of the frame and lower links will be somewhere around 40-44 inches. Probably closer to 42-44. Shooting for 7-8 inches of up travel and new wheelbase will be around 128 (from 125-126 ish) so the steering clears the oil pan

Finger will be roughly were I cut the frame as that’s where it flattens our

Front frame rails are off. Now to decide do I notch the core support or just cut it out.
