Yep. Definitely takes a lot of work just to make some good up travel numbers while keeping the truck low.

Ran Kane creek today. Didn’t get to splash as much as I wanted to but still fun. Truck works really well

More trails. Cliffhanger on Wednesday. Moab rim today. Trucks working well. Had a leaky brake fitting and transmission cooler fitting but that’s it so far. Really happy still

God I hate that your making me think about putting bypasses on my truck. Any issues worth noting since you linked it or the truck just running like a champ?

I thought I would have unloading issues on climbs since i didn’t use the link calculator and just put stuff were it fit but it works really well. Front doesn’t unload which surprised me and prompted me to do the duck down winch but it’s not needed. Doesn’t feel tippy. Super stable and I can go so much faster through everything. Bypasses work well. Rear i need to move the upper mount up to use the full shock but the front works good.

It may be a little soft but for not doing any tuning or touching anything and just setting the preload to keep the springs from clanging I don’t have complaints. I have no doubt with some tuning and setting the rear correctly I’ll be able to move pretty good through the desert. Truck has surprised me on a few occasions on climbs I’ve made that I couldn’t before. It doesn’t hop and I either crawl a lot of things or with a little bump go right up.

That's awesome to hear! Going to even better once you get the suspension dialed!

Finally home. 1000 road miles, 7 days of wheeling and no real issues besides a leaky fitting and it actually works pretty good.

Ran poison spyder Friday as our last trail

So glad to see all of your hard work finally out on the trail, H! Great job my man!

Also - I always think I'm a badass for running Hells Gate, Kane Creek, etc in the IFS first gen in the past... then I see real crawlers run those trails and hit all of the obstacles I couldn't. Makes me jealous.

Haha I always have to remind myself most these trails were made when 35s were big on tjs. Hell’s gate isn’t really hard as long as you stick on that wall. The ledge on hamburger hill on Kane creek after you get out of the water and start climbing up is kind of gnarly. With a little skinny pedal I made it up that but lots of people had issues.

in the end it’s all about having fun. I pulled plenty of cable this week including winching myself once or twice on prichett and my dad the same. I have no shame in it lol

I'd like to see Hells Gate ran backwards. Going down has a lot more pucker than up from what I remember.

Day trip to sand hollow with my dad. Ran the maze and double Sammy. No real pictures as usual. Sand dunes were flat and got going pretty good as I have decent suspension in the front. Going to fix the rear upper shock mounts this week hopefully

I’m also taking suggestions for headlights since I can’t get the stock ones to sit flat. Either round, square or triangle and some bumper suggestions as well.

Can you build hard mount tabs off your cage instead and keep the oem lights? Your build is so clean it seems once the stockers are gone it loses that a bit.

The cage hits the back of the lights and that’s what causes them to angle. The grill originally fixed it but with a week and half of wheeling and bouncing, it’s cracked the grilll... unless I could find a set of lights without the big back on them, the angled/lazy eye look is driving me crazy.

Convert to 95.5-97 grill, headlights, and hood. Headlights and a grill will be less than $100 and then find a hood in the junkyard

I can't remember exactly how the lights mount, but most guys use smaller diameter tube to recreate / reinforce the grill so that the grill and headlights all mount straight to the cage mount independent of each other so taking big hits doesn't rely on plastic grill to headlight interaction to hold things in place. It's been so long since I worked on my truck I can't remember exactly how the headlights mount... any ideas if you can just mount the headlights to the cage with smaller diameter tube / tabs?
His 01-04 hood is barely clearing which won't probably work with the hood. For me I had to convert my 98 to the 01-04 to get my engine cross brace to get 1 3/4 tube under the hood.
