@abarber11 It would actually be easier with the kit. The kit comes with the 4wd hub assemblies (since you would need to change them anyway) and cv shafts. You would just need a front diff and manual transfer case. As for the add, you could just leave it in the locked position the whole time since you now disconnect at the wheels. Similar to the old style pickups.

I used 2lo on my F250 for parking trailers with the manual hubs unlocked, very useful. I never used 1st gear with 2lo as it had the classic granny gear 4 speed.

Would you guys happen to know if it be possible to locate a manual transfer case fittable to an '06 TuRD and if so, how much?

Actually you could do one of two things.

1 - permanently lock the ADD actuator or
2 - buy the manual transmission FJ cruiser passenger axle tube which is a straight pass through since they were AWD

I had thought about the later after my front ADD actuator took a shit but never got around to it. http://www.rocksolidtoys.com/forum/showthread.php?t=413

Where did the manual hubs come from? That is not part of the transfer case. Yes with a manual transfer case a switch could turn on and off the ADD with out a controller needing to see that. It would seem to me a simple switch to fool the controller into thinking the ADD is on while actually turning it off would be a great deal cheaper than replacing the transfer case.

I'm kind of lost on how that would help you with the ADD locked on you still would have an issue when the transfer case was shifted to 4WD because now the front diff is all ready lock in. If the FJ axle has no ADD does it have locking hubs? Or relay solely on the transfer case?

Yeah I did but he was asking about who had hubs and I never saw a post as to who did. Then some one said they swapped a transfer case so yeah I'm still confused. Mine is now long out of warranty so I'm going to play tricks on my controller because I do like to use low with the trailer. If it works for me as I think it will I'll post the results. What we need is an enterprising person to design a cable shift to replace the ADD motor.

No locking hubs on the FJ axle tube, it is from a full time AWD system much like the FJ80s. The transfer case is manual and is AWD with a center differential and can be locked into 4x4. The automatic FJ cases are part time 4x4 that is the transfer case of choice. So to fully eliminate any electronic BS you need - FJ case from an automatic FJ, FJ ADD tube from a manual transmission FJ, manual hubs.
