I've been driving manual transmission vehicles for 18 years now, but I still feel like my truck is hard to drive smoothly. My wife has inner ear problems so and is ridiculously sensitive to jerky motion, if I'm not super careful she gets motion sickness. It's not that I stall it or anything like that, it just takes a ton of attention to get a smooth launch and shifts, particularly 1-2 and 2-3.

Anybody else feel this way, or am I alone in this?

I’m sure you’ll get lots of recommendations for the accumulator delete mod. Mine bucks a bit, may do the mod myself eventually

    +1 on the ADM

    changing trans fluid helps too

seems like I have to take 1st to 3-3500 to get a decent shift to second.

The good news is, it's not you.

More good news, the early 3rd gen V6 M/T was even worse, mainly due to the piss poor ECM calibration.

Besides the ADM that you should do, I see you have a 2018. Be sure that you have the TSB tune:

My 2012 always shifted like butter. The SS from URD made it even better. Sounds like it’s common among newer whips though.

The transmission itself is fine, it's the ECM calibration and the accumulator that makes things funky at times.

I have no idea. It's just on the 91 octane and the throttle response isn't muted anymore. I had this annoying dip in power at 2800 which is gone now.best best mod I've done.

Small, easily fixable things really, compared to some of the TW issues.

Cheap compared to any alternative. That's coming from a certified cheap ass. You know how bad you had to work me over to get on the train.

Beyond that, with a small MPG bump that most people see, it pays for roughly half to the full cost. I'll have a better handle on that once we get the 2.0 release and summer blend fuel back.

Rev it a little while in first and shift slowly into second. It should feel as though it’s falling into place, rather than that harsh shift that many complain of. It take a minute to get used to, but driving style has an important role in this. This isn’t a fast shifting transmission and takes finesse in the low first gear to second shift.
