Doubt it, I still plan to purchase ovtune once 2.0 is finished and i see the results. I will plug it back in, he uses that in his tune. He tunes it differently from factory, its all over his posts, how he tuned the ACIS activation (which has multiple activation points) to smooth out torque holes/spikes.

I cant purchase now, due to his shop moving, and I just want to wait until after Christmas.

I can say however, that this made a huge difference. The only issue, there is some torque loss (which Matt mentioned in another thread about this) Its not horrible, but it's noticeable. I chose smooth.

What is the latest TSB for the manual transmission? I am planning on getting OVTune soon. Does anyone recommend getting the latest TSB update from the dealership first? Will OVTune just over right whatever the dealership installs?

I'm still having an issue with getting to do the TSB update for the manual transmission. They said that TSB 0062-18 and 0058-18 pertain to automatics only. I explained that the calibration code needed to go from 8966304A7000 to 8966304A7100. They told me that its Toyota policy to not just update the ECU unless it show a problem and that they didn't experience it on a test drive when I went in for the squeaky clutch TSB.

I offered to take them on one and they said the lead tech would have to be the one along for the ride. However, I'm sure when I do that he's going to say that just how manual transmissions are or something like that (might not even know how to drive one himself) .

Any suggestions on getting the dealership on board with the update?

Bypass the service advisor go straight to the service manager.

Is it worth getting the TSB or just go straight for OVTune?

Both? Once you have OVT, you'll have all the tools needed to flash to 04B71. Flash the TSB tune and then flash OVT.

get the TSB first. if dealer BS then all the info you need to setup a computer with TIS and the correct file is here on TW, easy to find, just ask. then do it yourself with a click and no arguments. then get OVT.

Not sure if I follow you. Once you flash with a certain tune whether that's OVT or TSB, doesn't it just utilize whatever you flashed with last?

That was the service manager. I even said if you plug my truck in it will show that there is an update you still wont do it? He said not unless it shows symptoms of what the issue is.

If I am not mistaken the MT software TSB is also the same as a TSB for a power steering surge so maybe go at it from that angle.

Seems like a shame to offer or actually pay for something thats a TSB under warranty. Arguably I already did pay for it in the original price of my truck and the coverage for mileage/time warranties.

Which TSB # are you referring to? Is it better than OVTune?

What @St.Germain said. You'll be on the lastest ECU version as a baseline.

TSB-0058-18 or TSB-0125-18. Same software update. The TSB update is much better, but OVT is much better than that.

This thread has all the info that you need:
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/software-update-for-the-manual.562550/

Most of the info is in the 1st Post including the CUW files.
