seriously y'all, only a grandma with internet paranoia refuses to do this. if you can log onto TW you can work this out and stop whining about dealer morons. you can fix this yourself. probably in less than an hour all said and done.

Once I flash with OVTune doesn't it forgo the latest ECU version and just uses the data from OVTune?

They are hanging their hat on that it references torque converter and the manual doesn't have one. But the TSB pertains to throttle response etc. from my understanding.

Obviously TSB are issued off of number of complaints and the MT crowd doesn't have enough numbers to justify their own TSB I guess.

OVT overlays the ECU software and there are some areas that he doesn't touch like TRAC. Read up and make an informed decision. Like I said, the TSB tune is a free update once you get the OVT kit.

if you want your motor as good as it can be, both. if you just care about driveability & smooth shifting, i guess the TSB alone may be sufficient for you.

I short shift it from 1st to 2nd, maybe 1,500 RPMs or wring it out to 3,000-3,500.

If my girlfriend is with me, I shift slow. Roll off the throttle and take 1-1.5 seconds to shift, and its smooth as butter. When shes not with my its probably a wild ride.

The problem is that the original revision of both TSB-0058-18 and TSB-0125-18 reference MTs and MT ECU IDs. They pulled that from the current revisions. The old revs are in the MT Update thread. The current versions can be found at nthsa.gov.

I am absolutely certain that someone local to you would be happy to help you out if the dealer doesn't come through.

Yeah I think that actually made it harder/worse, because they said they use only the latest and greatest for reference.

I'd likethe truck top simply run smoother. Improved driveability. Better throttle response, smoother delivery of power. I've been reading through all the OVTune forums and ECU update forums for the manual transmission and just trying to decide what I should do.

ok got it. i strongly suggest you make this easy:

    - setup a computer with TIS and install the TSB yourself, or a dealer if it's convenient.
    - stop there and spend some time assessing. i bet that will be all you need.
    - if you feel you need more, OVT is waiting for you.

That is just harsh as MTs engines suffer the same problems as the MTs. When the revisions happened, I expected them to make it simpler by dropping MT specific TSBs. That didn't happen, but someone at corporate obviously created software for 04B10, 04B11, 04B12, and 04A70.

Like I said to @shakerhood , I'm certain that there is someone near you that would help you out.

That is exactly what I did and how I ended up where I am at. I borrowed a cable graciously loaned out by @mstrbrc and then ponied up for OVT when he added features specific to the MTs.

Thanks for your input. Might I ask what you have installed? Curious to know what each tune drives like.

    you mean software?

i started with OV back with the first alpha files when it was only MT trucks. that was before the TSBs. i did the TSB when it showed up, and then OV enhanced his files after that, and i kept upgrading OVT as the files released.

i bought OV catless dump tubes on release and got a catless dump tube 2.0 beta file for 93oct and installed it at that time. the tubes leaked badly so i went back to stock front cats temporarily, but I've been running this 2.0 catless beta file ever since because it runs so great.

tl;dr; latest TSB + OVT 2.0 beta catless dump tube for 93oct. :)
