    My Build date was the end of November in Texas. Sounds like I just got the unlucky Transmission with my build.

    Interesting, I wouldn't think the Synchros would only act up when the transmission gets hot, but you never know.

    its not uncommon for dealer technicians to use the words " faulty synchronizers " as a reason to replace the transmission .
    Toyota doesnt give them much information to work with while diagnosing , nor does Toyota want to .
    I beleive the Toyota diagnostic tree has the technician check the fluid level in the transmission and road test .
    If grinding occurs , verify clutch components function properly then replace transmission assembly .

    One thing the OP did mention was that his transmission fluid was already very dark . This may indicate faulty clutch lining on the blocker rings but I highly doubt it . I still think this is an issue created by excessive heat . Anyone got a digital temp gauge ?

    Take it in! You shouldn't have to avoid driving on the interstate with a brand new truck.

    I have a digital temp gauge. Do you want me to take a reading when it starts acting up and then take a reading when the new trans is installed for comparison?

    It would be great if you could take a temp reading when the transmission starts sticking and you have a difficult time moving the shifter

    The only thing ive noticed happening to me is sometimes (not regularly though) I can shift out of gear just fine, but when going to the next gear it is like I hit a block on the way in and it won't go up completely into the gear. It is as if it makes it half way and can't go any further. So I have to drop it back down to neutral (all this while holding the clutch in fully) and go back up.

    I've this happen most when going from 4th to 5th. Once or twice it has happened when starting from a complete stop into 1st. Or even when the truck is off and I move the shifter into 1st after parking. Once it happened at a complete stop going into reverse. Never happened from 1-2 or 2-3 or 3-4 or 5-6 (yet).

    Only 800 something on the odometer, this is my first M/T vehicle. Others I know who have driven M/T for a while tell me things will loosen up a bit and shifting will become easier.

    Don't know if it is related to what is going on in this thread or if it is completely different, but just another data point.

    I am thinking your issue is different than the op . Sounds like a hydraulic clutch assist issue

    Drove Highway 1 today. It was sticking in 3,4,5 and 6 when trying to shift out on into a higher gear for hilks, turns, etc.

    I was actually thinking about making a post like this. I have been having the exact same issue with mine. I will bring it to their attention when I get my summer tires switched over. If I'm cruising at approx 80km/h for more than 5 to 10 minutes I will sometimes get stuck in a gear. Really frustrating. I have only owned manual vehicles [with the exception of my old F150] and this problem is new to me!

    Toyota put a new transmission in on Friday. They had the truck for less than 24 hrs, so I was impressed with the turn around time. So far it seems to have fixed the problem, but I haven't had a chance to take it on a long drive yet. Hopefully this weekend. The new transmission feels about the same, except reverse is very difficult to get into, so hopefully it loosens up as it breaks in. I thought I remember reverse loosening up a lot on the original transmission.

    Also, on the original transmission, I had a chance to take a reading with a heat gun, and it started sticking when the transmission was 114 deg.

    Reverse was a bitch for the first week in mine.

    Looks like I might be having Toyota look at this during my 5k service.
