this stuff..seems as tho everyone raves about redline for manual trannys..expensive per quart but worth it if you ask me. learned all about it today when checking various oils and what not via google.

Go synthetic, has much better protection, and you can let it go a lot longer than normal gear oil.

I used Amsoil Severe gear in 75w-90 and it was amazing how much it smoothed out the tranny and T-case. I ended up putting Mobile 1 in the Diffs because Napa was closed...any synthetic gear oil you use will end up serving you just fine.

Some feel synthetic is too "slippery" causing notchy shifting. That's why the MT-90 is supposedly good, syn and not notchy.

I have valvoline syn in mine. I like it fine.

Syn or Dino depends on your preference and your wallet as well I'd expect.

I have never seen it at Walmart . Redline is kinda like Amsoil not everyone carries it . Any performance shop should have it .

i thought about it:p..to take the ring gear off of the carrier and then slap everything back together. and just drive around front wheel drive..but i dont want to burn out the bearings since i doubt there will be enough gear oil splashing around to properly lube the pinion bearing. maybe a quick trail fix to get off the trail.

quick little story,...this was a few years ago.

we were on a hard technical trail up north, it was a trrail that we should not have been on in the first place being IFS. my buddy busted his rear on his FJ..took us well over 18+ hours to get back to the main highway. brandonh, dtrujillo63, and myself took turns pulling him while strapped daisychain style to get him out. if i knew back then what i know now..i would have taking the 3rd apart to get the ring gear off and put everything back together without the ring gear. he couldnt go over 10mph without making to much bind in the driveline. all the broken pieces kept getting caught up inside and was binding..making LOUD clunks, clangs, pings.. every noise imaginable coming from inside the axle housing. such an epic journey!:D
