I chose 3 pedals because i enjoy driving. If i didnt want to experience driving, id buy a tesla with autopilot. The MT is a major reason i drive a tacoma. Quick list of reasons:

-control in snow. Mt is invaluable when traction turns shitty

-control in hills and corners. I can see a corner coming and hold the gear in anticipation of more power needed. The auto doesnt have eyes or an actual brain (yeah ive seen the "brains" of an at)

-offroad power. You bump up to an obstacle. You need torque to get over. Manual transmission means precise control over engine torque vs wheel torque. At=gas er till she maybe gets over or starts spinning wheels out of control n try again.

-4.30 gears. This truck likes higher rpm. I dont care about 1 or 2 or 5 mpg. I want a truck that goes when i say go.

-boredom. Someday ill get sick of manuals, but it isnt today. Im on my 7th over 12 years and dont regret em in the least! I had an automatic is350 lease which was a very nice car except... yeah i got bored

Plus its a manual. Get one while you can!

I drive a slushbox auto cruiser for work.

My personal vehicles have always been manual, always will be manual. I enjoy shifting gears too much.

Are mt owners more vocal or is the whole industry missing a huge chunk of business killing off the mt? Its even more worrisome in the sports car world now that everyone fighting over hundredth of seconds 0-60. To my knowlege neither ferrari or lamborghini make a MT, porsches hottest cars only come with a pdk. Maybe there are reasons to buy a mt still even though they no longer get better mpg and better performance than at and autoshift manuals. Rant over.

Note: ultra rare instantly sold out porsche 911 R. Stripped out go fast 911 with 3 pedals. Msrp:185,950. First sale on "used" market less than a month later: 1,300,000. Keep in mind the most special thing about this porsche is the MT... take note toyota! I wont buy your upcoming supra if i cant have a manual! Please please please dont let me down

I agree, what's with all the MT's disappearing?!? I like an auto every now and then, but I really enjoy my 3 pedals most of the time!

I wouldn't buy a lambo (if I could afford it) if it was an auto!

I bought my first Taco because I couldn't find a manual in the cherokee back in 99. When I went to the dealer this time, I refused to test drive anything because they didn't have a manual. I realized back in 99 that manuals are becoming a thing of the past. People can say it's for the mpg increase of auto, but back then I felt it was Americans laziness.

no, you'll never get sick of manuals. but for the old and injured (all warriors have their scars) AT's serve a purpose.

i love your post, totally my perspective. adding one invaluable thing to your list: first & reverse rock the truck out of stuck in the muck. really hard or impossible to do with most AT's, as simple as muscle memory with MT's.

my last car, just totaled, was a modified up VW R32 with a DSG trans. it was so smooth, fast, and had a great added convenience of being able to flip it into D in a jam.

which then became so boring i wanted to shoot myself and was wishing i had an MT so i could serve my purpose. :alien:

Excellent point. Completely forgot about many years selling cars in new england trying to get em out of snowbanks every storm. Snow unstuckedness capability pecking order goes:

Any subaru>anything not subaru with a mt>anything automatic not subaru. With few exceptions in the middle.

yeah i was actually able to get an 89 bronco II rwd one legger out of being dug into the sand rocking it with a rhythm until it could start to actually break out. i was amazed how easily it came out once i got it rocking at the right rate. only in an MT.

my current car is a 6 figure mileage subie with a 5MT. it's loose, all over the place, broken steering rack, out of alignment, out of inspection, no headlights, sloppy shifter, and as fun as cars get IMO. now i'm playing a waiting game for my yota. these MT orders take a while. in the meantime i'm in jalopy heaven. or something like that.

Manual here. Drove a few autos, the 5mt, and finally the 6mt. Lots of good reasons here already on why to go three pedal. I bought recently so after folk's positive responses to the auto tsb. My decision was between LB and 6mt. I'm not using it for work and street park in a city, so I'm gear jamming again.

I think the Tacoma MT sales would improve and have a greater percentage of buyers if Toyota would have more options when buying. I did not need a 4x4 but had to get a TRD OR 4x4 DCSB to drive a stick. TRD 2 wheel drives (OR/Sport) should come with a MT as well as the LB TRD's. Love my MT though $.02

I'm guessing yes and no. The Tacoma is not an exhilarating driving experience either way for me at least.

I'll admit. That 6th gear is kind of worthless, or rather 5th is.

I can not disagree more. 6th is very convenient on long highway trips.
