I’m here to get my TRD Pro. I wanted an automatic, but this one is a manual. Not 100% happy about that.

What’s the manual do as far as resale value?

In more pedestrian trims (SR/SR5), I think there may be *some* potential to slightly decrease the resale value compared to automatics. But for a TRD Pro, I really think it will have no affect on resale, and if anything, may INCREASE its value in the future, since gearheads/enthusiasts would prefer a manual over an auto. Especially if Toyota goes all automatic for the next generation.

i specifically ordered a manual.... It will not hurt it. Manuals are always out of stock if that tells you something..

If it won't make you 100% happy then you probably should not buy it. I am sure someone else will snatch it up and it will hold its value either way.

if you don't want or love the MT then let it get grabbed up by someone who wants it. that should take about one hour, maybe two.

I can see some wanting the auto. It does give you crawl control and if you commute in stop and go traffic a manual could get old.

Buy the manual, the auto will make you sad. The manuals are pretty difficult to find so if anything its going to help resale with the hatred for the auto.

Don't like MT, don't get it. Someone will be happier to have gotten the Manual TRD Pro.

Resale value, depends the market. It will either be the same or more, never less. Think "rare"

If I had the choice, my truck would be manual. But DCLBs don't come configured as such.

The automatic transmission comes with a free lifetime membership to the TW Third Gen Unlimited Bitch Club.

With it you can post unlimited daily gripes about the lack of low end torque, the busy ECU shift logic. etc. It also allows you to post endless questions on S mode and the use of the ECT button.

By joining you can also totally ignore the search function for routinely asked questions (even ones covered in stickies). You just don't get that with the manual.

More importantly, it ships with the following sticker:

Manual trans will make it harder to resell. There are much less people who can drive it, thus a smaller market.

People with manual Tacomas don't sell them so resale is N/A.

Manuals are for people who need to FEEL more masculine.

    Before anyone complains....I am kidding.

I had a 2016 with an auto and then traded it in on a 2018 manual. I wanted a white TRD Pro but in my area it was hard to find and no one wanted this manual, so it worked out for me. I also carry a camper in the back full time and the manual pulls it better. The one thing that I miss from the automatic was the push button start.

Considering you can no longer get a 6MT TRD OR with a 6' bed stateside and that MT are becoming phased out more and more across various platforms I'd say MT vehicles are more valuable than ever.

I follow your logic, but .....

More valuable to the smaller set of buyers who are MT enthusiasts.

Less valuable to the larger set of buyers who don't care for MT.

By the numbers their is more demand for AT.

Correct, if Toyota could sell manuals they would. Few people actually know how to drive a stick.

Certain parts of the country, used M/T tacomas hardly last a day on the market. I've sold two myself, on Colorado's front range they are gone in an instant. Resale value of manual vs. automatic will depend on where you live.
