Ok you guys..... I have decided to convert my 01 prerunner to a 4x4 manual, exciting times. Manual hub conversion kits are out of my budget, so I might have a solution. I would like to wire an electronically controlled valve to the ADD, and manually control vacuum to the actuator. I would also install a vacuum guage to monitor that the actuator is indeed engaged or disengaged. What do you guys think?

    Too much but not enough!
The diff I got is an add diff but it's locked into 4x4 and use manual hubs and axles so it's only really in 4x4 when the hubs are locked

If I'm not mistaken - there are two ports on the actuator for vacuum lines. One to engage, the other to disengage. Your valve will have to shuttle vacuum between the two ports. The factory setup works just fine... Accumulator in the drivers side front wheel well and the two VSV valves by the battery - The immutable Dick Foster lays it out perfectly here - Here's some more reading, includes schematics - http://forum.expeditionportal.com/t...en-transfer-case-lever-is-moved-to-4HI-or-4Lo

You would really just be changing the design of a system that works.

Save your money and install your manual hubs
