The diagram shows the relay open, I assume the coil is not energized on the diagram? Or is it?

The 5A was to show where the 7.5 A is located...5A is not related to Interior Light circuit.

19 is wire to Illumination lamps. 37 to the key/start switch ring.

Is there an added switch? Is it illuminated? Maybe one wire ‘backwards’ could be using power from somewhere it shouldn’t be....

jeez....I want to do LED interiors but man these issues are turning me off. Are there any LED's that DON'T cause problems?

I tried to mod a overhead usb plug for a dashcam using the full time 12v dome light circuit, but it made the DRL’s stay on too! That circuit is touchy!!

@MESO , you ever hear of this? Any reason you can think of why it would happen? You've spent more time with the cab circuits than most of us.

Does the dimmer circuit in your truck still work for the gauge cluster and illuminated buttons? I'm going to take a wild guess and say that it probably does not.

If it does not, pull the dome relay and see if it starts working again.

You may have fried the interior illumination circuit.

If they stay on all the time that means they're getting a new path to power or ground; depending on which is switched in this circuitry. My guess is power is switched through the overhead panel in the network of door switches..etc. What happened during your install is that (sorry to assume this..but) there was an error in the installation somewhere. Either power was on when you switched them out, or used a set of needle nose that slipped and inadvertently shorted. Only takes a millisecond. What that has done is damaged the original paths. There are many odd light posts in here. While I have not had access to any schematics, I know how boards and electronics like this are built.

My guess is that the original path to power is now damaged but through that damage, the circuit has provided a new path. Perhaps even across another set of lights that share space on the same board. Based on other posts I've read, I expect there is a path perhaps even linked to the 3rd brake light. If you were so inclined, I'd be interested in hearing someone with this condition pulling other fuses to see which one finally extinguishes the light.

If a short occurred though, I think you're probably up the proverbial creek. The overhead panel, and/or the BCU are where all things switched occur for these lights. Many before you have had to have one of these replaced to rectify the prob.

I would suggest putting the original lighting back in prior to requesting warranty work, though.

Has anyone had this fixed "under warranty"? And if so, what did you tell the dealership? I'm taking my Tacoma in next Wednesday and having the problem fixed (I hope). I put the stock bulbs back in. Don't know what to tell the dealership how the "problem" started so it will still be covered under warranty. Thanks!

I suspect the issue is with the illumination circuit in the instrument cluster. No one ever answered me as to whether the dimmer circuit still worked or not. If it is, the only option the dealer is going to have is a replacement.

Also, if that does happen to be the problem I would love to get a hold of one of these damaged ones to see if the problem can be repaired. In addition to possibly getting a dump of the code for the display.

It can be, but it's a board replacement unless you have surface mount tooling. Blown fuse on the board, and possibly the transistor chip.

That's what I figured. Easy enough if you have the tools for the job. I would bet it's a blown transistor rather than a fuse though. Blown transistor can be a short to ground, a fuse would just open.
