This is my black 2000 Toyota Tacoma Xtracab 3.4L V6 4x4 SR5. The mileage as I start this post is 356,129.

This is my first Toyota, and while I didn't buy this truck in 2000 when it came out, it has been my truck all throughout college and has never let me down. I bought the truck in 2013 with approximately 290,000 miles. The truck stayed relatively stock with the exception of a new paint job and engine overhaul at 310,000 miles. I've been on TW ever since I bought the truck and decided to start writing about it now that the truck has started to become a better reflection of me. There certainly may be mods and things I forget to mention about the truck, but as I continue to update this, I hope you can follow along and enjoy the truck as much as I do.

    Build Details

I've done quite a few modifications to the truck since 2013, so here is my best recollection of how the truck is currently outfitted.

    The Truck:

    • 2000 Toyota Tacoma - Xtracab 4WD SR5 V6 (AT) TRD
    • Color: Black Sand Pearl (The paint was heavily faded when I bought the truck. The clear coat was almost entirely gone, and the truck looked a dark green. It has since been repainted.

    Front Suspension:
    • Camburg Toyota Tacoma 4WD 96-04 FOX 2.5 Factory DSC Kit
    • Front Diff Drop Kit

    Rear Suspension
    • FOX 2.5 Shocks (came with front suspension kit)
    • All-Pro Off-Road 98-04 Tacoma Rear Suspension Kit w/ Expedition Leafs (I went with these leafs because I knew I was going to add a heavy duty rear bumper w/ tire carrier, bed rack and RTT.

    Drive Train
    • Toyota E-Locker (rear, stock)
    Armor
    • All Pro Off-Road Baja Series Front Bumper
    • All Pro Off-Road IFS and Trans Skid Plate Set
    • All Pro Off-Road Weld On Rock Sliders
    • All Pro Off-Road Pack Rack
    • Relentless Fab Wrap Around Rear Plate Bumper with Swing Out Tire Carrier Add On/Rotopax Mount
    Wheels & Tires
    • OEM Toyota Tacoma 15" Rim (Plasti-Dipped Black)
    • 33x10.5x15 Toyo Open Country M/T Tires (Full Size Spare Included)

    Side Note***
I absolutely loved the Wrangler Goodyear MT/R with Kevlar Tires that I had on previously. I wanted something slightly slimmer though, which is why I went up to the 33x10.5 Toyos. If they made the MT/Rs in that size I would have kept them. One of the best tires in my (uneducated) opinion. I love the slightly slimmer look and feel of the Toyos though. Not quite pizza-cutter enough but close enough to stock for my liking.

    Lighting
    • IPF 868/968 Series Driving Lights
    Audio
(I need to double check the specs and brand of speakers/subs and amps, this was one of the first mods I did and don't remember the details)
    • Sony - 6.2" - Apple CarPlay (built-in bluetooth) Head Unit
    • 2 - 10" subs
    • Upgraded Speakers (front and rear)
    Interior
    • Completely reupholstered the interior with new headliner, carpet, and leather seats.
    • If you plan on doing this PLEASE make sure you find a good quality upholsterer who isn't going to charge you an arm and a leg. I am extremely happy with the way it turned out but man I was not expecting to pay what I did.

    • ARB Simpson III RTT
    • ARB 1250 Awning
    • Waterport 3.8 Gal Self-Pressurized Water Tank
