All of his work is amazing. That's why comparison question got put in this thread not his to derail his other thread but keep the stoke alive for what he is actually doing but still curious on diffrences

I know! I was waiting for Marlin, didn’t know about JD, gave up on Marlin, bought JD and then saw there was a group buy while I was waiting that I missed.

Okay one concern I have is how well the front diff is going to hold up to 37s. Everything else seems be be addressed but the front diff. Maybe I am missing something but can it even handle such a big tire? Marlin seems to have addressed the steering but...

Tons of guys on here with 37's.

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/thoughts-on-37s.328134/

Here's a well tuned 2nd gen with 'regular LT' running 37's after moving up from 35's.

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/taco-sauce-tx-pro-basic-build.215653/

Again - I posted earlier in here, Mike's truck has 580:1 and so if guys want to run their rig like his, the suspension isn't the only thing that will need to be addressed. More $$$ for more control over breakage on his rig.

The front can handle 40s as long as you don't wheel like an idiot and aren't using RCVs.

My problem is I go to the dunes and to moab. So I'm not a big fan of breaking anything as my truck is the way to and on the trail and I perfer not to trail fix if i don't have too.. But if my only option aside from full ultra4 IFS is to choose what is going to break or SAS then its going to be SAS as all options are around the same price.

I've got them, and I actually get out and use my truck a lot so I can actually speak from experience.

They are a complete waste of money. For the price of RCVs I can buy 20+ junk yard OEM CVs or make 6 long travel CVs assemblies. This might vary depending on you location, but where I live in Socal I can get junk yard OEM CVs for $75.

On top of that, the boots on them suck absolute ass and require their in-house grease if you try to pursue a warranty replacement....and it costs $50+ dollars to get the grease to your door. So every time a boot gets damaged and has to be replaced you get to waste money on their own in-house grease as well as the cost of the boot. So if you lose a boot it could easily run you $50+ dollars every time..in the year I was running them I think I replaced 4 or 5 boots for various reasons. The first set was their own in house boots which fucking suck. Did a short 70mile trip with some go fast and rock crawling and 3 out of the 4 boots that they came with ripped open before I aired up at the end of the day. I ended up getting a different brand boot that runs about $15-20 depending on the exchange rate.

They also claim they get better articulation but on the outers, they don't. Since the outer joint has to have the same size OD on the cup they couldnt really make it larger to make it any stronger.... One of the things they did do was make the shaft bigger, which when they did that actually causes the shaft to hit the cup on the birfield side when articulated.

They also end up causing this if you shock load the front end with them installed. If you think running RCVs will allow you to beat your drive train up, think again.

If I can run Rubicon, Kane Creek, Cliffhanger, Pritchett canyon and more on 40s with beat to shit OEM joint CVs, there no need for RCVs.
