Marriage

Im in the same boat. Been together for 11 years. Married 6. Got a 10 year old shithead. Actually printed those papers today. It makes me sad, but also kind of happy....i dont know. So many mixed emotions. I know im not perfect. But i do believe that i might be happier not being micro managed. I should be able to be myself and do things i enjoy

 

Keep your head up man. Things do get better; I promise that.

 

Fuck yea man.

 

That's not to say that things will not be rough for a while; not going to sugar coat it.

Got married young, dumb, and broke. Divorced in 2 years.

Grew up and found the right person, now 6 years later still married....but it has been lots of work

Life with a partner, a true teammate, is a lot better/easier/happier. If the sacrifice doesn't seem worth it its because you're right. But I dont ever think its effortless ......

 

Congratulations on your 9 years together, hopefully there will be many more for the both of you! It was hard to tell from you response, cancer sucks and I wish you the best of luck if your still fighting it.

I got close to getting married when I was younger and ended up not marrying her. And I’m glad, because we weren’t compatible. I assumed I would go through life as a bachelor forever. Met an amazing woman when I was 34. Still didn’t get married until I was 38. She’s the only person I’ve ever wanted to be around more than I wanted to be alone. We don’t have kids and don’t want them. We both are medical professionals and make good salaries and can move about anywhere we want to. We are both extreme introverts, me more than her. We don’t have to deal with the stresses most married people do. We’re both lucky, and we both know it. She has been my savior from my previously mediocre life, and I love her more every day.

 

This is almost my life, except I got married and I put the toilet seat down because I’m not a goddamn savage and close the shit pot when I’m done. I also stopped drinking because it was threatening to ruin my life. All the rest applies.

 

Much truth here..I always remind myself "think of how the words you said to someone as you departed for the day were the last words you got to say to them".
