Yeah I've seen a few trucks with 50s up on top and that's the first thing people notice about the truck. Definitely a big attention getter. For the 30" bar did you have to cut back the brackets in the lower valence to make fit?

I just cut out all the plastic uprights in the valence to create a big rectangle gap. I didnt need to trim any brackets.

The brackets are from Rigid are like $80 and go in in like 10 minutes. I took my whole bumper off to trim everything but you dont have to.

This weekend I hit Ocotillo Wells for Mannys birthday and the truck did great. The valving that Sonny and Micah suggested worked amazing. The truck is completely different with the secondary bypass and rear hydro bump kit.

I picked up a new Prius as my daily driver and my Tacoma is going to be parked 99% of the time.

I am considering selling my mid travel 2012 Tacoma and picking up an older fully built LT Toyota with full cage etc. Definitely something street/smog legal so that I can drive it to the desert or cruise if I feel like it.

Anyone in the market for a 2012 Tacoma with Offroad package and LOTS of extras?

Yeah. I want to pick up a fully built, caged desert truck. The truck was amazing in Ocotlilo Wells this weekend. The bypasses and bumps take it to another level.

Well my comfy DD has a buyer flying in on Thurs to take her to Wyoming. Building her was a blast but I'm excited for an older full LT Tacoma or Tundra.

I'm currently looking at an 89' 4x4 with LT front/rear with a 22R engine or a 2000 reg cab Tacoma 4x4 with LT front/rear, 2.7 engine, and cab cage.

I'm going to check out the 89' this morning and the 00 tomm. Wish me luck.

    Nice build,

Do you have any rubbing issues with the front end?

I have a similar front end setup and have some minor rubbing after the cab mount chop, I was considering adjusting the preload in my coils, but after reading through your thread I might go to 700# springs! any input in this?

Can you do me a huge favor if you have a minute, take a measurement from the ground to the bottom of the front fender?

    Thanks in advance

I wouldn't go to 700lbs coil overs unless your just running one shock. If you run a bypass you need to be at 600lbs coils. The coil over and bypass need to be valved to work together as well. This is all assuming that you are not running a heavy front bumper. If your 4x4 those coils need to have little to no preload or your CVs will explode:)

I had to cut the bumper a lot to get 285s to fit at full lock and full bump. I also hammered down the pinch weld flat and removed the whole fender well liner.

I will get you that measurement tomm.

    Thanks for the info,

Still only running one coil over, no secondary shock or bypass yet. Also no big front bumper. I am going to do a little more massaging to the pinch weld and try getting rid of the inner fender liner to see if it helps. It only rubs occasionally but it is annoying.

    Thanks again for the help

Your going to have to trim the under side of the fender flares, including the first 3 inches of the front bumper, all the way back to the first mounting screw. I trimmed here, the backside of the flare, the body mount and hammered the pinch weld. I'm completely rub free now.

Nope. It's not. I feel comfortable knowing that if my dirt truck breaks I can park it till I'm ready to fix it.

If I kept that 2012 as a daily it really was dialed in. I kept up with all of the LT trucks in all but the deep whoops. Bypasses and bumps made it a whole other truck.

Just my gas expense was so much that my Prius pays for itself in gas savings. Now more truck funds. Lol

Watching 2 trucks drive away is too much, I'd eat a bullet before someone drives away in my truck. Good luck with the new build.:(

What did you have to do to make the 30" bar fit in your lower grill?

Use the Rigid brackets that are intended to mount a 30" single row into the lower valence. All you need to run a double row is to cut out the plastic uprights in the lower valence and the 30" double row fits. It is really tight but it works.
