Beginning to look at putting new shoes on my 23 Tacoma TRD Offroad. Want to use the stock wheels. I have seen many posts saying 265R75/16 are as big as I can go without rubbing issues. However while researching different tires that are listed as 265R75/16 I am seeing specs that show inflated diameters from 31 to just under 32 inches. So my question is what is really the max diameter in inches you can run on a stock TRD Offroad?

I believe there have been a few who on the stock sport wheels (17”) ran 255/80R17 which is about 33”. That is a very tight fit though. I run 255/75R17 on my sport wheels and they fit fine, they are larger than the size you’re looking at by about half an inch and they fit great.

I would say anything marketed as 265/75R16 will work. Also, there should not be that much of a variation in tire height when comparing the same size. They have to adhere to being close to the right size. The differences you are seeing in the specs are probably differences in how they were measured. I personally don’t look at heights, I look at revs/mile. That is the most useful way to figure out how big a tire really is.

Wheel width, backspacing, and offset are huge factors as well. Are you asking the biggest size on stock TRD OR wheels with no spacers?

Random stuff. Oh! and converted to non ADD 4x4.
255/85R16 narrow for the win. Aside from that, 39”s.

Want to stay with stock wheels, no spacers, no lift. The stock tires are fine in sand but here in north Florida I do run into clay based mud from time to time and the stock Goodyears are not happy. Looking at either Mickey Thompson Baja Boss ATs or Nitto Ridge Grapplers so far. I do not want tires that are crazy loud on pavement.

On occasion 265/75r16 will touch mud flaps but that is generally all. I ran 265/70r17 dura tracks on a +1 offset and had no issues with an aftermarket mud flap.

255/85R16, push the lower control arms forward at an alignment and you are fine.

The solution to there being too many "biggest tire I can run" threads always seems to be to create yet another "biggest tire I can run" thread.

As if the responses, conflicted as they may be, are going to change....

If you’re not scared of cutting the options are unlimited.

I guess I need to reword my question. The size tire I want to run is 265R75/16 on the stock wheels, nothing larger. I do not want to modify or cut anything to make room for the tires not to rub. As all of the tires I am considering are expensive I hope to get it right the first time. Again, my concern is that the tire diameter spec varies from 31 to just under 32 inches on tires that are listed 265R75/16. So, will a 32 inch tire work without rubbing? Also, is anyone running Mickey Thompson Baja Boss ATs on a stock Tacoma TRD?

    You will be fine.
