    lol pansies

Cut the hard lines, flare the tube, go again.

I did Josh's for him and had to use a pair of vice grips on the top unions but I managed to not mangle them. The flare wrench was starting to strip them though, I'll admit that.

That's the only Taco I've done though.

Yeah, I would have gone that way eventually anyway though. :p Fuck thieves, I hope those bastards get poked with rusty syringes while stealing some vehicle and contract aids. Thanks though. :)

Yep, plenty of snow up here in Northern Nevada. I think all the pics in that post were in Nevada. Some of my pictures are in WY or CA though.

    Thanks Randy! :)

I'll probably just keep the Taco. I plan on getting a camper and a car trailer so I can haul this beast or whatever other off road toy I get. Plus it'd be nice to have a full size, and a different DD, plus I want a diesel. I mean diesel tech... makes sense right? :D

So you got to practice on someone else's truck first?:D

That's the way to do it. I think I'll stay in the pansy category for a while with the redneck engineering bracket...I tried to bleed the rear brake on my mountain bike last week and somehow managed to f that up.

Another June baby? Yay! I'm 22 on the 27th of June. Reason for celebration? HELL YEEEAAAAHHHHHHhhhhh I don't even party.

Edit- max did they replace only your speak cable? Or did they replace the whole steering wheel? I've heard of a recall where the whole wheel is replaced?

Hell yeah, just turned 22 myself man. I think it was just me and the girlie friend.

As far as I know, just the cable. I'll have to double check for ya though. I'm out of town for now, but headed home tomorrow.

Oh and seriously, I am in ND this summer so if ya ever feel like driving east maybe I'll have time and money to drive north a bit. I don't know if theres anything to do up by Regina, or if that's too far but...:)

    Max,
    Love the build.
    Quick question:
After the custom flares, cab mount chop, flattening the pinch weld and beating back the firewall, do you still rub at all with the 35's?
I am considering going this route myself.
    Thank you,
    ~ Craig

Well... honestly I love the look and I love the uniqueness and abilities, but after blowing up the diff at moab, I'm a little shaken. I think it was just a fluke but still... I wan't larger gears.

Combined with the fact my flares have never been perfect, and that bugs me. I'd be hesitant to recommend 35s. Now that being said, obviously plenty of guys run 35s on these axles, it just makes me nervous. Also, I spent ~700 on the flares, and if I hadn't have spent so much it probably wouldn't bother me as much. Whatever. I know that's not your question...

I do still rub, I think, I rubbed the back of the fenderwell a little, not enough to concern or ever tear up tires. Before the moab trip I beat the shit out of the fenderwells again, I knocked em back so far that it fucked up my clutch pedal travel and I had to get in there and knock it back the other way. I also put about 3/16" IIRC in washers under the bump stops. I noticed absolutely no rubbing in moab, in the same places I rubbed with 33s last trip. So, I think you can do it just fine with very minimal rubbing and very little travel lost if you space, which you may not have to.

I also should add, on top of all the things you mention, I also had to play with my alignment, which isn't that difficult, to push the tire forward.

You'll also want gears and your mileage will suffer.

If you do go through with it, narrow the flares 2.5" at least. I've noticed my tires rubbed on the front flares and cracked one of the clip mounts on the flare itself. Spacing the bump stops should have helped. Still, look at max's build, the duck911 (I see you lurking), he did his 3" IIRC and they look good!

Just my opinions, sorry for the rambling, and thank you for the compliments!

I bought a set of Bushwacker "pocket" style flares. I have intentions of designing a bolt on high-clearance fender flare based on their design. (which will cost MUCH less than $700 )
I also think if I go this route I'll do a 1" BL. I've seen Anthony's (PSU taco85) and it looks pretty tight.
Also a re-gear to 4.56 would be in order. ;)
    Thanks Max.:D
