Got mine on this weekend also. Gotta a question though. Have any of you experienced an issue with bolting up the bearing assembly to the spindle, specifically one of the assemblies bottomed out when I torquesd it down. This prevented the bearing from turning:eek:. I cut one of the brake dust shields to fit, and that seemed to give the bearing enough depth. I think that the milling depth might not have been deep enough on the problem spindle and I hope my solution will be alright.

Pics to follow when I get her all cleaned up.

    Hello everyone,

FIRST, Let me thank: Bandit, BORNWILDGUY, nammer, Ricks2013, SpruceTaco (sorry if I left sopmeone out).

I finally installed my driveshaft spacer. My take-off vibes have been reduced by 50% or more & it placed my driveshaft & CB back into its correct position (I have 4"'s of lift so I expect some take-off vibe. Oddly, the quicker I take off, the less shudder). My lift is 2" with Wheelers 3 Leaf AAL & 2"'s with a steel tapered block. I will eventually buy 4" springs but I'm not in a hurry now. I also have an overall smoother ride which I was pleasently surprised to find out since I thought it rode fine other than the take-off vibe.

The Spacer also allowed me to use the Toytec CB drop kit which I couldn't do before. I previously attempted to lower the CB with washers & even a stack of washers long enough to copy the same drop distance that Beefed Tacos CB drop kit would give me & every level of drop end up causing drive shaft shudder at highway speeds.

I torqued it to 65 ft lbs & then I rechecked it at 60 ft lbs after 118 miles of "purposely" hard driving & not one of them budged. The spacer kit comes with nylon lock nuts but I still used red loctite as added insurance. I've read of guys instyalling these & just tightening them to what they feel is tight & they've been fine so I feel good about what I did.

Now, I never measured my diff flange bolt pattern. I initially ordered the 65mm x 65mm (with 10mm bolts) because it is the most common one but it was too small for my truck. I returned it & they had nothing else for me. About 2 months later I check their site again & noticed that they were now carrying one for my truck. 66mm x 66mm with 11mm bolts. My truck is one of the few Tacoma Prerunners with this bolt pattern. Easiest way to tell is to look at the bolt heads & if you have "11" stamped on them you will need the larger diameter ones.

So, I order this & decide not to install it & post it for sale. I felt bad returning another one to Roger Brown (VERY helpful person & 4crawleroffroad). Then, I took my truck to Toyota & paid $29.95 for a drivetrain inspection because I just didn't feel comfortable with the CB stretched back towards the rear due to my lift & I had it at its last setting. They confirmed what I suspected. Everything is good but I will eventually damage the CB. I wasn't too worried about the shaft position in the trans. I sent a few pics to Jason (Toyota Tech 31) & he said if it's not leaking trans fluid then I'm good. However, it is nice to see everything back in it's place.

Gotta give serious props to Bob @ MaxTrac for his outstanding customer service. Just a couple of hours after my post regarding bearing assembly clearence issues, he responded here and then forwarded me the DIY fix and also offered to send me a brand new spindle if I wasn't comfortable doing it my self.:bowdown:

You just don't see this customer support in too many companies these days.

    Thanks Bob and TW.

    I have a few mods
any recommendations on what size driveshaft spacer and shims I should get?

also my coilovers seem to not want to get readjusted since I took all the preload off of them after getting the spindles put on, now the holes on the COs are just getting damage and they wont budge

im thinking I may have adjusted them too far up since they dont want to budge at all. even with a crap done of WD-40, I think I may just need to use a coil compressor to take ALL the load off so that wheel can spin freely and I can readjust them to an inch or so. and Im just damaging the holes on the CO instead actually getting it raised

Undo the driveshaft from the rearend flange, loosen the cb and slide the driveshaft forward to where it should be and measure the distance of the gap between the flange and driveshaft.

Or measure from the back side of the black piece to the edge of the silver piece since the black should be flush with the silver. That's what I did anyway & it worked out & I didn't have to take anything apart.
