    Not for the highway, of course, but for going off the pavement. I see pictures in this thread and it really makes me want to go take some of my own, and these of course are off the road.

    For example last year it snowed about 80 miles away at a lake my friends and I travel to but we couldn't take my truck because it was 2WD. Things like that. (We may have been fine but we took the 4x4 obviously)

    1997 t4r has super duty axles, 5.13s locked front and rear. 3 link front with 14" kings. Rear 63s.
    yup Im getting frustrated with how the ride is. I hope all this helps. Truck goes in thursday to see if its the bushings and i will have the dealer try to balance the tires.

    if you have lockers you would be surprised where 2wd can get you. The only time that 2wd really fails is rock crawling but even then if you air down you can still manage basic rock formations. just have adequate recovery gear and youll be fine

    EDIT: and dont be stupid. If it looks bad it probably is bad

    I actually came across an offer on a e locker rear axle. I plan to do the swap in the summer months and after that my capabilities should increase significantly, especially if I were to buy a couple of aggressive spares.

    -TRDRunner, that looks much better! I bet it feels good too.

    I have a few mods
    Ya I've gotten my 2wd in a lot of different situations offroad but have gotten through them with some speed or some sense. I don't do anything alone (well I haven't gone out by myself since I got my winch). like said above, don't be stupid and have some sense when wheeling a 2wd. I plan on dropping $1600 ($2000 w/core charge) for a fully assembled 3rd member from ECGS. Gonna put in an ARB locker and 4.88 gears with a solid spacer in it, that's gonna be awesome whenever I get around to that. Your capabilities with a rear locker will increase since you'll have power to both wheels in the rear instead of being the 1 wheel wonder lol. Just make sure you got the right recovery gear and some sense and you'll be good to go!

    Wow! That's going to be a hell of a setup, can't wait to hear about where you take it. Many axle swap threads have people suggesting arb because you get to keep the stronger diff, but this axle is in good condition and is coming to me cheaper than junk yard prices which after harness will save me about 800 bucks over an arb. And I honestly don't wheel that often so I'm excited for the swap.

    Has anyone in this thread swapped with a TRD off road axle?
