Did you lift the rear at all?

 

That thing is freaking beastin on em!!!!!

 

Has anybody else had a really bad squeaking sound coming from the rear after installing blocks or new shocks?

 

Ive heard the Dakar leaf packs squeak like a mofo, although mine havnt been installed yet.

 

Yes it does .
Mine started squeaking around 5k miles into it .
I just turn up the radio to drown out the sound.
There's a page on here on where some other members found a couple solutions to get rid of the sound , I haven't tried any of them yet to confirm.

 

I still have my stock leafs but it's squeaking like a mofo lol I think I need to grease the shock bushings up and it might help some

 

X2 - My stock pack is squeaky enough as it is lol

 

No squeaks from the Dakars on my truck. Its hard to tell why some squeak and some don't. Could be the bushing type, torque, or alignment of the leaf pack. I used Mobil Synthetic grease on parts that needed the grease during assembly.

 

How long have you had your Dakar pack on ?

 

Its been 13 months 20000+ miles.

@SpruceTaco, truck looks good! Did you go higher cause you were rubbing or just to go higher? I'm trying to figure out if I'm going be able to fit some 285-75-17 on my truck with maxtracs and ome 884's? I'd be at about 6" if I leave my billies at 0. I've got 285-70 right now but the 75's are a 34" tire but actually a little skinnier than my current tires. I've got cab mount chop plates just in case but I'm trying to keep from cutting too much plastic.

 

Thanks! I went higher for both reasons. It settled about 3/4"-1" & was a touch low in front. It also rubs the cab mount but only when the cab is full of people so I wanted to try going all the way up first & putting it at 7", if it still rubs I'll do the cmc. I've already trimmed plastic in front of the wheel & behind the wheel.
I had 285's on a 3" lift originally. Then I changed my whole lift to basically the set up I have now but with my billies at 1.75 so for a while I had 285's with 5.75" lift & no rubbing at all. I'll find some pics for you.

I have 285's now but the tires I want are about an inch taller and the same width. They are basically 34" tall so I was curious if you or anyone else that made the jump to 35's thought I could go that big with 5.5"- 6" lift in front without too much rubbing.

 

You're welcome! Until yesterday I was running my 35's with 6.25" & like I said I trimmed plastic & it rubbed on the cab mount occasionally.keep in mind my tires are 12.5 " wide so that also contributes to the rubbing. If you were at 6" I would think you'd be ok. You would be about where I was with the lift but your tires will be an inch smaller(.5" each side of center) & about an inch skinnier. Worst case you'd have to trim plastic & possibly do the cmc.

I got a maxtrac 4' lift kit like 5 years ago for my prerunner. One of the rear shocks broke, Could i replace it with any extended rear shock? Or what do I need to look for exactly..?

 

So lifted 2" in the rear?
